Enjoyed this at the Armsby Abbey Stoutfest. Reviewed from notes.

A - Poured into a pint glass a hazy yellow with a one finger creamy white head that fades slowly to leave sticky lacing and a great foamy blanket.

S - Aromas of super sticky candy hops. This seriously smells like a brew day! Wort, grain, hop leaves. Really, really never thought Cascade hops could smell like this, or that a brewer could get this type of aroma into a glass. Shocking.

T - Taste is more of the same. Really didn't think cascade could translate like this. More of the great grain build, lightly floral hops, orange zest, pale bitterness. This is the epitome of a brew day.

M - Mouthfeel is smooth, lightly carbonated, fluffy, juicy.

O - Overall this was a knee buckler. This beer deserves MUCH higher marks, however, I can understand why some would rate it so low. The smell and taste of cascade hops aren't what's "in" right now. Everyone wants super tropical citra, or excessively bitter...and this beer is none of that. This beer smells, and tastes, like what it is like to brew an APA. Go to a brewery on brew day, inhale deeply, what you smell IS this beer. Masterfully done.

Hill Farmstead Cascade

Three Penny Taproom draft. Full notes taken May 22, 2015.

A- Slightly hazy golden yellow bodied pour from draught to pint glass. A small white layer but no head, seems like a glass issue. Large lace webs despite head issues.

S- Cascade hop aroma with a backdrop of grainy yeast bread and pale barley. Oranges, floral, herbal and general citrus.

T- Floral and citrus makes up much of the flavor from those Cascade hops. Oranges, big tangerine, flower meadows, lemon zest, herbal tones, pale cracked cereal grain, yeast bread and mineral water hints.

MF- Creamy and puffy light-medium body that foams up quite a bit to be airy. Carbonation is at a medium level and bitterness is smooth and on the lower end.

Floral and citrus Cascade profile exemplified in a smooth and easy drinking Pale. A nice break from the tropical juice that has become so popular.

750 mL growler poured into a wine glass.

Appearance - Hazy orange body. Big white head with lots of lacing.

Smell - Orange, grapefruit. Just a touch of grass. A touch of sweetness.

Taste - Big grapefruit hop. Some cracker malt. Strong bitterness takes over quickly. Just a little bit of sweetess.

Mouthfeel - Medium body. Well carbonated.

Overall - I don't think Cascade has the best hop profile for a single hop, but this is very well made.
