Notes/Commercial Description:
Edward (1917-2002) is our grandfather; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his five children. In his honor, this American Pale Ale is dutifully crafted from American malted barley, a plethora of American hops, our ale yeast and water from Edward’s well. It is unfiltered, naturally carbonated, and dry hopped. Aromatic and flowery, with impressions of citrus and pine, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Edward.

85 IBU

Pale and Caramel malt; Centennial, Chinook, Columbus, Simcoe, and Warrior hops; House Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

Tap at Three Penny Taproom on a recent trip to Montpelier/Stowe/Waterbury, VT. Had this once before at Hill Farmstead a while back, definitely have been looking forward to giving it another go...

Served in a Hill Farmstead narrow pint glass, it has the typical H.F. hoppy beer look to it. Hazy bright orange, nice white head that retains well leaves satisfactory lace.

The scent is solid and promising. Citrus and herbal hops, bready and some sweeter malts. Tropical.

The taste is great as remembered. Citrus/tangerine, good amount of herbal, general tropical flavors, and some pine. Nice soft bready, cracker-y malts balance things out nicely but definitely more hop-forward than your average pale ale. Simply great and easy drinking.

The mouthfeel is fine mostly but felt just a bit on the thin side, maybe could've use more carbonation as well. Maybe the beer's biggest, though slight, flaw.

Loads of hop flavor without a ton of bitterness, great malt backing, very drinkable, this is to be expected from Hill Farmstead. Having had it recently as well, I prefer What is Enlightenment? as far as their pale ales go, but this is certainly very good by all means.

The smell is very sweet and piney. The taste is sweet yet very bold. It has a smooth feel that hangs around in the back of the mouth. This beer is a dark gold color with a very thick white head. This beer is all that it is cracked up to be. Very nice. This guy can brew.
