Fresh 750ml. growler sent the same day of filling by baconsausage. Thanks for the opportunity.
With the top popped, a straw colored liquid poured into my awaiting glass. Lovely carbonation levels rose near to the top and the room was filled with a bouquet of hoppy freshness.
Pine needles, grapefruit zest, oranges and a light agave styled aroma emerged from the glass. Big and hoppy, nearly dank, it seemed as if the hops were squeezed to release their true nectar. Sticky was almost the comparison but icky isn't something I usually follow up with.
Smooth on the palate with a juicy citrus flavor taking over. The combination of a grapefruit and tangerine came close as to the initial citrus comparison. Hop bitterness came up on the finish but never made the beer feel out of balance. Some sweetness was also tasted, more to the effect of a sweetened tea which gave a nice undertone to the high citrus flavor.
I'm very happy to have gotten the chance to enjoyed Abner. With Ephraim to come, I'm really blown away at one breweries' capability to produce their quality of different hop forward recipes. Delicious and just my style.
