Notes/Commercial Description:
Abner (1867-1953) is our great grandfather; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his fourteen children. In his honor, this Double IPA is dutifully crafted from American malted barley, a plethora of American hops, our ale yeast and water from Abner’s well. It is unfiltered, naturally carbonated, and double dry hopped. Aromatic and flowery, bursting with notes of citrus and pine, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Abner.

170 Theoretical IBU

Pale and Caramel Malt; Dextrose; Centennial, Chinook, Columbus, Simcoe, and Warrior hops; Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

Like this as much as HT and more than PtE.

All of the offerings from HFS are phenomenal and this is their pinnacle for me. Just a beautifully done DIPA all around.

Hops are wonderfully done here; stone fruits, pine, floral beyond comprehension. Had on tap numerous times when in VT for HT. Was so good I bought a few growlers to bring home with me.

If you get the chance to try some do it. Shooting up the BA ranking and for good reason.

My first Hill Farmstead offering. Shared a 750 ml growler filled 1/17; enjoyed 1/22. Served in white wine glass.

A: Golden, cloudy appearance with vanishing head leaving a ring of white lacing at the edge of the glass.

S: Wonderful nose of tropical fruit, pine and citrus. I could sniff this forever. Slightly sweet.

T: Fresh piney, earthy hop flavor followed by tropical fruits and a lovely grapefruit bitter finish that lasts forever. Despite the nose, the malt presence is fairly dry. A bit of alcohol on the finish.

M: The mouthfeel is masterful for a double ipa. Tiny bubbles dance across the tongue. The feel is light and resiny at the same time. So easy to drink which is dangerous for an 8.2%. The finish is drying and pleasant - each sip invites another.

O: This is an artfully crafted double ipa which I enjoyed immensely; the hop freshness is front and center but the balance is the key to success here. Well done HF, I look forward to trying more of your beers soon.

A-Deep cloudy bright yellow orange, two finger head with nice carbonation with great lacing.

S-Tropical goodness, slight grass, lemon , citrus, pineapple.

T-What balance, tropical notes, citrys, grass, even a tad bit of spice. Nice bitterness at the end.

M-Medium bodied, nice carbonation good deal of hop resins.

O-An amazing beer. Still no Heady, but man is it worth a try.
