Harlan is Edward’s slightly more assertive alter-ego, an America India Pale Ale that is copiously dry-hopped with Columbus, Simcoe, and a hint of Nelson Sauvin hops.

Had this twice- first time in a 2oz taster glass at the Hill Farmstead brewery while waiting in line on 11/23/2013, and then once again in a 12oz pour in a Hill Farmstead pilsner glass today, 11/25/2013.
Pours a standard Hill Farmstead hazy golden-orange body with a very nice creamy fluffy white head that retains well. Solid lacing, its not explosive but it does stick quite well on the glass.
Smells very citrusy- grapefruit, lemon, passion fruit- with a bit of caramel malt backbone that cuts the hoppiness with a nice sweetness. Very strong nose, but not too complex.
Flavour is very nice. Not complex- its got lots of grapefruit and passion fruit, reminding me of passion fruit bubble tea- not sure why- but that's what it delivers along with a solid attempt to balance out the citrus with a nice caramel toffee malt backbone. Not super bitter, actually.
Creamy, medium bodied beer with good carbonation; dry and refreshing. Very drinkable and not incredibly bitter.. it's not quite as good on the mouthfeel as other Hill Farmstead pale ales deliver, but it's very good.
This feels like a less complex but more sessionable version of Susan. It brings citrus qualities along with that patented Hill Farmstead mouthfeel. I would recommend Legitimacy as a better, comparable Hill Farmstead IPA (yes I know this is Grassroots, but still), otherwise I'd just go with Susan here.

On tap at Sabatinis in Exeter pa early this evening.
Splendid looking beer. Slightly hazy pale amber body with a small head which leaves dripping rings of lacing. Aroma is strongly herbal and dank. The taste however, is not
Initially there is a piney bite which quickly moves to a strong grapefruit flavor, and a long lasting finish which doesn't dry out. Another wonderful beer from HF, who unlike many ipa brewers, manage to make each beer different and full of character. Loving this one.

Murky amber pour, small head that fades to a thin raft of fine bubbles. Smell is of white wine and citrus pith. Taste adds some pine, maybe a touch of pepper, and finishes dry.

I’m surprised this isn’t rated higher. Stone fruit, white wine, & a touch of pith on the nose. Palate boasts an underlying citrusy sweetness w/ a predominance of peach, pine resin, & floral, peppery hints. Finish is bitter but clean and mildly dry.

16oz. Can I to a BT pint.
Pours a hazy, slightly darker orange. 1 finger rich white head. Layered lace. Nose is citrus, grass, and grapefruit. Moderately aromatic. Beer opens grass, citrus, bark, and a touch of wax. Lychee undertones. End is citrus rind and grapefruit. Very balanced. Body is light with moderate carbonation. Dry on the palate and soft going down. Bone dry aftertaste.
Really sessionable. Great flavor packed in a mellow body.

On tap at hill farmstead.
Had this next to an experimental ipa and they tasted very similar. Both New Zealand vibes. This one has a bit more farmhouse ness to it. Less of the new school hop powder crap. A bit more traditional. Mango, melon, honeydew, floral.

Can from Jeff, thanks for the tick.
Pours a hazy murky dark yellow color with a frothy off white head that slowly recedes. Earthy grassy citrus and topical fruits. Gritty sweet bread to counter.
