Had this on Tap in Burlington a few weeks ago and now reviewing out of a bottle I picked up from HF.
Pours pitch black with a 1/4 inch khaki espresso head that dissipates quickly but remains thin through to finish. Minimal lacing is left behind in my pint glass but that's okay.
Smell is complex and robust. Coffee, Chocolate, oak, char, vanilla, toffee, even some spicy pepper notes (could be my sinus' though with Spring allergy) backing dark fruit and faint booze & hop resin.
Taste follows the nose well. This beer awakens once warmed for 10 minutes. My first cold sips were muted but the chocolate and vanilla, booze, toffee become more pronounced when nearing room temp. The faint pepper zing dances on tongue for a few seconds after swallowing and I'm left with a nice biscuit, booze, and malt presence.
Mouthfeel...hands down the best I've ever experienced....Just ahead of Imp Biscotti BBA. So very silky smooth with just enough carb to keep things interest without being overbearing.
Overall this is the best representation of a style I've ever encountered and the best non BBA beer I've ever had. These guys are definitely the mark for most every style they produce.

Hill Farmstead!!!! Absolutely killing the top 250 list.. Their beers are riddling all over the top of this list.. This Porter beer has a dark tan color with a coffee bean type smell to it... Smooth .. Great taste it has.. They brew such fresh beer.. Not huge on Porter beers but Farmstead is soooo consistent on their great brewing.. You can't go wrong with this beer..

L: Pitch black with a foamy, sticky brown head. Superb lacing, some of the best I have ever seen. Served in Hill Farmsteads long-stem tulip glass.
A: Rich coffee, caramel, and melanoidins with some gentle earthy hops. A nice dark fruit character, some malty breadiness, and soft fruity esters round this beer out. A very soft and rich aroma.
T/M: Smooth bitterness and coffee and chocolate malt flavors take the front, moves into rich caramel and melanoidins with some soft earthy hops. The body is full and the carbonation soft, allowing the flavors to strike perfect balance for a long savory finish.
Overall, an amazing beer. By no means is this to style, much to strong and much to different, but it is one of the most delicious dark beers I have ever tasted. It is very much like a strong Doppelbock hybridized with a Robust Porter. The flavors are soft and rich, and the bitterness and mouthfeel provide perfect balance. Hill Farmstead has blown me away.
