Notes/Commercial Description:
Arthur (1922-2005) was our grandfather’s youngest brother; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his 13 siblings. In his honor, this Saison is crafted from American malted barley, American and European hops, our distinctive farmhouse yeast and water from our well. Unfiltered and naturally carbonated, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Arthur.

22 oz. bottle served in a Deschutes snifter. Thanks to pmoney for the share.

A: Pours a hazy yellow color with a huge dollop of white foam forming on the pour. It recedes slowly to a thick cap that leaves some stick lace down the glass.

S: Stone fruit and light yeasty notes with some lemony background scents. Grassy as well with a sweet malt profile.

T: Same as the nose with a tad more sweetness from the malts. Sweet bread with stone fruit and some spiced yeast. A little dry with some lemon tartness and mild dried grass.

M: Light bodied with a medium high carbonation. Bubbly texture across the tongue with a sweet and yeasty finish.

O: Another nice saison from HF. Hits all the balances of yeast, fruit and malt.

Has all the things you'd want in a saison. Lemon and citrus notes that are perfect on a hot summer day. Tastes like it has a bit of funky sour going on too. Highly recommended.

Pours a deep gold with a thick quickly dissipating head. Good lacing. Faint pepper and biscuit on the nose with some dry white wine notes following. Dry on the tongue, very spicy with lots of pepper. Dry finish as well. Light bodied with good carbonation. Overall, a supremely well crafted and easy drinking farmhouse ale.

$12.99 32 ounce growler pour from DeCicco's in Ardsley, NY.

Pours a dull shade of amber with a tangerine hue, clouded, with plenty of bubbles rising to the top. Head is loose, moderate, and tiny bubbles. Nice looking sheeting, with webs of lacing rise from the collar to the top of the glass.

Fruity, earthy and some peppery spice picked up in the nose.

Fresh, zesty and fully flavorful saison. More pepper, fruity, some grassyness with a kick of Belgian yeasty goodness.

More high quality and well worth seeking out brew from Hill Farmstead.

Poured from a bottle into a wine glass. Had after Vera Mae and this is good but not like HF's other offerings. Smells slightly farmhousey, tastes like a somewhat watered down version of the style, not a ton of flavor. Good, but more like a lager or witbier than a saison. I prefer HF's other offerings more.

Poured into a Sam Adams perfect pint glass.

Appearance: 1 inch head, straw yellow in color, clear, high carbonation

Smell: light apples, straw, and florals—really appealing smell—very spring like

Taste: light apples, straw, grape, and florals

Mouthfeel: high carbonation, super light bodied, sweet

Overall: Very light, faint, and super flavorful. A delicate beer that is a masterpiece. I have yet to be disappointed by a Hill beer and this is right with the best of them. I could drink this every day. A friend of mine who I gave some to said this tasted like a fine Champaign and I tend to agree.
