Notes/Commercial Description:
Arthur (1922-2005) was our grandfather’s youngest brother; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his 13 siblings. In his honor, this Saison is crafted from American malted barley, American and European hops, our distinctive farmhouse yeast and water from our well. Unfiltered and naturally carbonated, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Arthur.

Appearance: Looks like the best of the Belgians, with the liquid being a cloudy honey color and the head billows with marshmallow meringue; incredible stickage and copious lacing qualities

Smell: Delicate toffee malt aromatics merge with some barnyard yeasty funk and a hint of grassy hops

Taste: The toffee malt flavor establishes itself first and then underpins the other flavors through the finish; fruit flavors that are cantaloup and pear forward emerge next with peppery yeast arriving in the middle; everything merges, after the swallow, with some grassiness in the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body, somewhat creamy, with moderate carbonation

Overall: A really clean, well crafted Saison

Poured from a 750 ml bottle into a Three Floyds Teku.

A- pours a hazy light honey color with a 2" frothy white head. Thick clumps of bubbles cling to the glass.

S- honey, lemon, cantaloupe, lemon peel, peppercorn

T- pale malts, slightly sour lemon and lemon zest, earthiness, peppercorn, slight grassy, weedy bitterness.

M- light body and high carbonation. Nice light, refreshing beer with a semi dry finish.

O- very good saison. Enough sweetness to balance the citrus, slight sourness and bitterness.
