Twilight of the Idols is our winter porter. We brew Twilight each autumn, with a touch of locally roasted coffee and cinnamon, and age it on a blend of select vanilla beans. Originally conceived with a friend in 2009 while brewing in Denmark, the name of this annual release is inspired by the title of one of the last texts written by one of our philosophical idols, Friedrich Nietzsche.

On tap @ Three Penny Taproom in Montpelier then followed up with a taster @ Hill Farmstead.

Truly delicious beer - lots of coffee and chocolate flavor but with a solid underpinning of vanilla and spice in just the right amount to be impactful but not overbearing. I could drink a LOT of this beer.

Big regret is leaving the brewery without a growler of this. I'll just have to make do with my 8 bottles of various other tasties.

This is all about the coffee and the spices. The vanilla and cinnamon come through but it's the coffee that hits your nose the most. Somewhat thin body but it's not a bad thing as it makes it even more drinkable. Great Porter.

On tap at Sabatinis in Exeter pa earlier this evening.

Looks splendid in the glass. Black body, tan head lasts throughout leaving a sheet of lacing.

Aromas of coffee and chocolate.

On tasting, so smooth. Unsweetened coffee with a mild chocolate note. The roast is lasting, but not a hint of bitterness.

Mouth full, finish a lasting coffee roast, slightly drying.

Overall, excellent coffee porter. Only the long drive home is preventing me from having another.

Pours dark black, thin head and very little lacing. Nose has big roasted coffee notes, light cinnamon. Taste is light roasted coffee, roasted malt, mild and lingering bitterness. Mouthfeel is moderate with light carbonation. Does not shy away from bitterness, which is its greatest asset.

On tap at Big Fatty's, White River Junction

L -- Deep black body with two fingers of tan head. some retention and great lacing
S -- Toasted malts, espresso, vanilla, cacao powder. A lot more going on than in Everett
T -- Big bakers chocolate and coffee, with some smoky bitterness and just a hint of vanilla-tinged sweetness. Quite robust flavors
F -- Soft and fluffy , and very drinkable.
O -- I like it a lot more than Everett

Blanketing beige lace from the minor head. Deep brown color. Bright light does pass through the center of the glass.

Difficult to get the smell -- mostly semisweet chocolate, coffee, and cinnamon.

Rich fudge brownie flavor. The body matches the taste and the lighter carbonation enhances the effect.

Poured from a can (17Nov2020) into a Belgian glass

L: pours a very deep black brown with a very nice and dense darker khaki head. Nice chunky lacing as the head fades, as well as with each sip

S: get a great amount of coffee as I’m pouring, aroma is incredibly rich and deep once I bring the glass to my nose. Get lots of coffee with rich and slightly sweet vanilla, slightly spicy cinnamon aroma following right behind. Other solid notes of dark chocolate, fudge brownies

T: excellent flavor, follows the nose very well. Lots of rich roasted coffee and slightly sweet vanilla on a richer chocolatey base (fudge brownies, dark chocolate). Toward the finish getting some more pronounced roast coffee and chocolate, with the cinnamon coming through more. Rich and lasting cinnamon flavor through the finish, lingers nicely

F: medium/medium- body, medium+ carbonation, quite drinkable with a bit of cinnamon heat in the back of my throat

O: absolutely amazing porter, flavor is rich and deep while being relatively easy to drink
