poured 750ml bottle into my Duvel.

A - Pours hazy, deep straw yellow with a nice 3 finger white head. Retention is excellent and there is plenty of lacing all over the glass.

S - Aromas of citrus, lemon/lime, and floral, honeysuckle notes. There is breadiness from the pale malts and some grassy/earthy notes followed by hints of spice and funk.

T - Quite tart/citrusy, with lemons, limes, and oranges. Floral with home honey sweetness and earthy hops along with grassy notes fill in with a bready or cracker like malt. Just a bit of spice and funk on the finish.

M - Light and crisp with fantastic carbonation. Quite easy to drink on a warm fall day.

O - Easily the best Saison that I have had and it has everything I want in one. What a treat and I am lucky to have tried it. I could always enjoy this beer.

A - A near perfect saison. Bright mildly opaque wheat gold body. Fantastic chunky head pours a full fist high with a mixed bubble structure. Excellent lace and retention.

S - I'm literally drooling. Honeysuckle, dandelion, lemon zest, hay, old tractors, and kiwi rinds.

T - Fantastic. Lemon, tart honeydew melon, honey, soft toasted wheat, dandelion, lavender, and kiwi.

M - Creamy medium light body with excellent carbonation.

O - Stellar. One of, if not the best saison I've ever had.

Dear lord. Not sure what to say about this beer. It's special that's for sure. Honey, flowers, lemon, lacto, but very gentle. A beer you truly have to listen to to appreciate. but lovely in every way.

A nice look of an unfiltered ale. A nice citrus nose. The taste has just the right amount of sourness with lemon peel notes. Overall another great beer from Hill Farmstead!

Tart lactic aroma with a touch of funk. There's a hint of peach.

Flavor is very citric and lactic, with more horse blanket, hay, and barnyard notes. Almost puckering.

Poured from a 750ml bottle (bottled Feburary 2015) into a tulip.
LOOK: Pours with an incredible 4 finger's worth of white, frothy foam that finally dies down to two fingers after two minutes. Gold in color with a high amount of haziness. Rising bubbles are moderate. Lacing is high, but thin.
SMELL: Strong sour yeast aromas immediately hit my nose. Mild lemony zest aromas along with hints of cloves, bananas, earthy yeast, pale malts, and hay are also present. No honey can be smelled.
TASTE: Strong lemony zest and mild sour yeast, clove, and banana flavors combine to create the initial taste. Mild hay along with subtle honey and pale malt flavors enter about 2 seconds after the initial taste as all flavors persist, but lemony zest flavors grow very strong.
FEEL: Somewhere between medium-bodied and light-bodied. Carbonation is mild. Beer goes down somewhat smooth and the finish is moderately dry.
NOTE: The honey flavors are extremely lacking. The beer was still amazing, but Hill Farmstead should talk to Jester King about making a honey saison that has more prevalent honey flavors like their Bière de Miel.

Pours a bright, clear yellow with about two fingers of white head. Smell is a little earthy with peppercorn and lemon coming through. Taste is outstanding - similar to the nose, with citrus and pepper, but very bright and sweet - probably owing to the honey. One of the best farmhouse ales I've tasted. Mouthfeel is par for the course - effervescent but not distractingly so. Overall, an excellent beer - why am I not surprised.

Poured into a teku glass from the bottle, pours a hazy straw yellow with minimal white head but leaves great lacing. Aroma is sweet and tart, the honey and yeast prevail on the nose and palate. Phenomenal.

Dry, tart, high carbonation, incredibly soft mouthfeel. Notes of lemon zest, honey, peppercorn. Well balanced between classic saison yeast and fruity brett C character. Another solid farmhouse ale from Hill Farmstead.

Super-unique flavor and feel. Not a traditional beer by any stretch, but a tasty change of pace. I won't go looking for it, but won't be disappointed if I cross paths with Anna again.

Cloudy, hazy golden yellow. Large, fluffy white head. Considerable lacing.

Sour. Slightly sweet. Funky yeast. Floral.

A little hops initially, followed by some pepper and a very tart lemon sourness that lingers. Some floral flavors in the middle along with some honey sweetness. Cloves, coriander, slight banana on the back end. Tastes much like a hefeweizen. Lots of Belgian/farmhouse yeast throughout. I also think the well water flavors shine here. Very nice mineral taste.

A bit crisp, but very well balanced and smooth otherwise.

Not my favorite style at all by far, but this is a great beer. I think it is a bit on the sour side, coming from a person who can eat lemons, still world class though.

HUGE thanks to aViewFromTheHOP for this one! This one seems more rustic than Dorothy - both in head retention and aroma. I get impressive notes of fresh cut grass, flowers, and black pepper. The brett doesn't quite pop as much, though. It tastes similar to the nose, albeit with a lot more fresh citrus. Honey keeps the back end very dry, while giving it a nice initial sweetness. Only gripe is that the brett doesn't offer world-class complexity. Otherwise, this is a fantastic saison that I'd gladly trade for again. Great work, HF!

A-Hazy Golden color, creamy pillowy head

S- Earthy, Hay, some herbal tones

T-lemon zest, hay, earthiness, spicy herbal hops, slightly bready character thats backed by some honey sweetness

M- Best part of the beer and what distinguishes this beer from any other saison out there. Soft delacate mouth feel, creamy.

O- I was expecting a bit more from this one. Wished there was some lactic tartness or some must/fruityness from the mixed culture. It must have been a fresh bottle. I'll have to get another and age it a little while.

I don't think I have had this beer (at least from a bottle) since the first unlabeled bottle I got from Shaun at the February tasting way back before the brewery was so established. Bottled April 2015.

A- Fairly hazy, grainy pale golden body from the 750ml to three various goblets and snifters. A puffy, creamy white head makes it up to two fingers or so with good retention dying down to a puffy pillow and ring. Sheets of lacing coat a large portion of the glass with spots all around that.

S- Lemony citrus off the top with a presence of lactic acid tartness but a clean one. Whole grains, slight cereal malts, pale fruit and a hint of herbal honey at the end.

T- As with the aroma I don't think it is necessary to rattle off a huge list of flavors as I think the core boils down to a well blended mix of lemony citrus, lactic acid tartness, whole grains and pale fruits like apple and pear. Slightly floral, spicy, herbal and a hint of apricot stone fruits.

MF- The body overall is on the light side with a consistency between foamy and frothy. Carbonation is spritzy and fairly high but spot on for the style. Finishes with a light herbal bitterness and lactic tartness.

Kind of reminds me of something between Clara and Arthur with a bit less overall tartness. Lemony foreground with a backdrop of lactic acid and grains but what is here is presented very well. Super refreshing and pretty much what I would want a Summer Ale to be.

Purchased at HF in December 2014. Poured into tall tulip glasses and shared with a friend paired with barbequed salmon dinner.

Pours a hazy, glowing lemonade yellow with an enormous creamy head that lasts and leaves huge curtains of lace.

Smell is slightly lemony with bread, yeast and some spice coming through.

Taste is wonderful...citrusy, slightly sweet, with the quintessential saison spice and a slight bready, yeasty flavor.

Mouth feel is just right, medium body, slightly dry, nicely carbonated, tasty and refreshing.

Overall, a classic American saison that is delicious, refreshing and is easily paired with food.

Hazy, pale-yellow look, barely any carbonation. The smell is muted, a bit too quiet- straw, tart, freshly-fertilized garden. The mouth could use a little more body and bubbles.

The taste is incredibly refreshing and light, sour enough but not too much. Like a spiked lemonade.

Far from world-class, but a tasty saison

Maybe I got a bad batch, but the lemon sourness was overwhelming. Did not get any honey at all. Because of the breweries reputation they get the benefit of the doubt.

An amazing beer, had on tap while going to taste another beer. It was better than that more sought after beer.

If you want something lighter, refreshing, and a bit unique, give it a try.

Thanks to baybum and kingkong for both sending a bottle of this as an extra in our trades. The first went down at a tasting & the memory was so good I wanted to hoard up the second one for my wife & I. So here we are, taking this 750ML down the pipe.

The pour is vivacious & explosively carbonated in the teku, carbonation roaring up from the bottom to replenish the foam topping the light yellow brew. Outside of Alka-Seltzer, I’ve never seen that many bubbles. The nose is phenomenal: white Thai pepper, sweet honey, tart lemon. Which is descriptive but not sufficient.

Anna suffers from a serious distraction: now I know where most of Lost Abbey’s missing carbonation went, namely right into this bottle. Wildly overcarbonated, the fizzing & popping in the mouth is terribly distracting from what comes after. Marshalling my slight power of concentration (ADHD? Nobody heard of that stank when I was young in the last century), there’s some nice honey, white grapes, tart lemon, earthiness that grows as the beer warms. But that carbonation. Half a bomber will be enough.

A whole different experience than the first bottle, which was sublime, this one – the carbonation really detracts from the beer. I’m going to bump this up a bit based on that first bottle – on average between ehhh & excellent, I suppose it’s pretty good.

Sampled during recent Fredfest, the honey seemed very prominent in this beer, and next to the Arthur (also available during FF), it just seemed a bit too sweet. Still an enjoyable beer, but not one of my favorites from HF.

Overall this is my first ever non-barrel aged saison from Hill Farmstead and really I'm still very new to the style.

The look is a clean straw yellow with a light, think, head that fades to some fantastic lacing.

Smell has a strong belgian yeast character. Usually this is not my favorite characteristic in a beer, but this is smoother than others I've tried.

The taste is very similar to the nose, but mellowed and sweet. I have a feeling this would be the addition of the honey. Slight spice notes.

The brew has medium body and is slightly dry.

Overall this is a great brew to get me into the style and I look forward to more of these in the future.

Bottle. Pours a hazy yellow with a frothy, white head. Freckles of lacing. Not initially picking up much honey, which isn't really of much importance to me. I smell Belgian phenols and fruity factors. Apple, pear and a bit of lemon. Light Noble hoppiness. Flavor is spicy and phenolic. Banana and clove. Apple and pear. A bit of band aid. More funky and rustic than the nose. Subtle hops. A pinch of lemony tartness. Many flavors and none of dominant. Still don't get where the honey chimes in. Medium bodied. Not as enamored as most with Anna.

A: Pours a lightly hazy, deep gold/honey - large white head that fades to a wispy cap, leaves some nice streaks of lacing

S: Typical Hill Farmstead base (yeasty, floral) with an undercurrent of honey - yeast, some light farmhouse funk - very floral - lightly spicy and earthy, but impeccably clean - some light fruits, hints of apples and pears - some light malts - nice, lightly sweet honey aroma, minimal sweetness overall

T: A solid saison with more honey than expected - yeasty with some earthy funk - floral with some grass - light spiciness and just a hint of tart, with some light fruits, green apple, pear, white grape - lots of honey, minus most of the honey sweetness - lightly sweet - bready malt base - finishes very clean

M: Medium body, medium carbonation, very smooth, very clean finish with a hint of lingering tart

O: From the anagram series

Hill Farmstead saisons are challenging to review because they are all very similar. The honey does not add a ton to the magic, but the use of honey is deft. Definitely worth a try!

Luminous yellow midday sun in the glass. Nose is that classic HF lemon and pennies. Lemon, lemon peel, honey, earthy funk, and bright mineral notes. Carb and mouthfeel are excellent as always for HF. This is a touch sweeter than some of the other HF saisons naturally. Totally standard for HF -- meaning world class.

Sunny yellow color, with a decent, bubbly, white head.

Smells of funky yeast, crisp citrus and floral, matured hops. Tartness is well pronounced, entangled in straw and honey, acting as an interesting counterpart to the acidic lime.

Has a pleasant, fitting, lively carbonation with a versatile, decent body.

Tastes of lemon peel, hay, floral, slightly herbacious hops, exhibiting a pleasant bitter note among spritzy, refreshing tartness. The beer got a great complexity to it, revealing a honeyed note, juicy lemon and green apple peel, blending incredibly well into the sour, well balanced base of the brew. Finishes with a pleasant dryness among wheat, soft yeast and a sour tartness, balanced by slightly biscuity malts.

Again, I am truly surprised by Hill Farmstead, creating a beer full of many different layers of flavor on top of its tart, refreshing foundation. Honey is present on its own, highlighting the citrus and floral hops, without overpowering the beers acidic character. Very refreshing, sessionable, with an enjoyable complexity to it, convincing by its balance.
