Another fresh 750ml growler sent by the generous RSchaeffer. This one set a new standard.
Unwrapping the electrical tape that held the pop top in place was a feat of nervous anticipation. So very excited to try this beer. The bottle was finally opened and then the hops rained down from above.
Unbelievable dank, fruity, tropical, zesty, intense, resinous and floral aromas that are distinct to the world of hop forward beers came through in such clarity, I couldn't hesitate with quickly taking a big first sip.
Just unreal. The first flavor was so clear with tropical hop intensity that I tried to think of the last beer that this could be compared to. Nothing came to mind, as this was so expressive and bright with that sticky and dank hop flavor. I understand why Citra is getting all the talk. Some light richness was apparent within the flavor but was so throughly enjoyed. Lovely and seamless in every regard.
Finishing this bottle was like taking lessons as how to taste beer. I was floored by how good this was as I'm usually not someone who feels that the quality of hoppy beers aren't a product by which their origin designates. Hill Farmstead is a destination and can easily be put up next to the big west coast contenders as a brewery that knows how to handle their hops. I'm saying all this without even tasting Ephraim. I can only imagine how good that will one day be...
