Notes/Commercial Description:
Clara (1906-1969) was our grandfather’s sister; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to her and her 13 siblings. In her honor, this Grisette is crafted from American malted barley, Vermont Organic Wheat, European and American hops, our distinctive farmhouse yeast and water from our well. Unfiltered and naturally carbonated, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Clara.

Pale Malt, Organic Vermont Wheat, American and European Hops, Ale Yeast, and our Well Water

Poured from a bottle, into a classy hotel bathroom glass.

A- It looks golden/peach in color

S-Way more funky then I anticipated. A great surprise. Brett, lemon/citrus, a little grapefruit

T- Sourness that I did not expect when I read the description on the HF website. Very "Berliner-esque" if that is a word. Slight lemon taste, with a tart finish.

M- A good amount of carbonation. Maybe a little too much. Solid body.

Overall- This beer is a little deceptive if you expect it to taste like it is described on the HF website. I had low expectations, but this was a very welcome surprise. Great summer beer, I enjoyed sipping on this in VT.

S - subtle notes of grass pepper and bread malts.

T - bread and grass up front. with pepper and lemon zest in the middle. finishes with a nice hoppy grass taste.

M - light bodied with lots of carbonation.

O - really good stuff. very very drinkable as well.

Poured into a large win glass from a 750ml bottle and split with my wife.

Pours a nice slightly hazy pale golden color with some darker orange/light amber hues. There is a nice half inch white head that forms and recedes down to a nice thin mat.

Aroma is yummy. Nice notes of funk and musty barnyard with a nice dosage of citrusy American hops. There is also a nice floral aroma of the European hops. The nice malty and bready grain notes really shine in the aroma of this brew. I detect some slight sweet yeast phenols as well as some mil lemony tartness in the nose, quite faint. The best part of the nose is the slight citrusy and resinous notes of American hops.

Flavor starts off with pretty clean and bready grain. Nice and fresh notes of oats. This is followed by some funky yeast notes with some slight phenolic esters and some nice fresh mildly citrusy hop notes. Very clean and delicious saison. There is a sharp but mild and faint lemony tartness that shoots up near the end of the brew. The finish of the brew is nice and dry as expected and the grassy and herbal hop notes linger throughout with some nice bitterness to boost. Very yummy brew. Nice vivid and clean carbonation and a light body.

This is a delicious and drinkable light saison. Nice low ABV make for easy sipping. Great clean carbonation gives the brew a playful mouthfeel. The grain and yeast notes are delicious with some amazing funky notes some mild tartness and a nice lingering grassy and citrus hop notes.

Thanks to ChrisPro for the share.

A - Pale orange/yellow colored beer with a huge white head that had great retention. Lots of stick left behind.

S - Some grainy malts, lemon zest, herbal notes, touch of barnyard and hay.

T - Taste is much like the nose, and very refreshing. There is a little bit more funk than you would gather, with some slight herbal notes.

M - Light, slightly drying finish, good carbonation.

O - Great session beer that packs in some good flavor. Not sure exactly what a Grisette was, but if it's a good take on the style I'd go for another.

Pours a crystal clear deep golden color, and with a very careful pour, half a glass of rocky bone white head is constantly fed with a steady stream of carb bubbles. The aroma is spicy with a funky edge and a sugary honey like sweetness deep underneath. The flavor is a little tart with a light citric component to it. Lots of yeasty spice and funkiness round out the flavor very well. Medium to light body with an insane amount of carbonation and a sweet bubbly mouthfeel. This is a very nice beer, its quite flavorful, light and refreshing.

Pours cloudy, pale yellow, with a fluffy white head that settles down slowly. Lacing clings to the glass in sheets. Aroma is moderately tart and lemony; pepper, wheat, light hay and mustiness.

Flavor is clean and lemony; gently tart and peppery, again there is a wheat note, light bready malt, a hint of hay and must, but the latter is quite restrained.

Body is medium-light; medium carbonation; smooth but lively. A simple beer with subtle complexities; an easy drinking refresher; the kind of beer you reach for on a summer day (if you can get it) and not even notice you're at the bottom of the pint in a matter of moments.

Thanks to ChrisPro for this one. Poured into tulip.

A - Pours light golden yellow, nice amount of lacing, thick collar, thin cap left over after the initial pour.

S - Light funk, floral, slight herbal notes. All very light and crisp which is what this beer is suppose to be all about. The funk is there, just in a smaller dosage.

T - Pretty much like the nose. Light funk, floral, slight herbal. Mostly a light funk on this one with the other notes taking a back seat.

M - Light body, good carbonation, semi-dry finish.

O - Super easy to drink and at 4%, I wouldn't expect anything else. Just a very light, easy drinking beer, which is what HF billed this one to be. Very delicate, very nice.

Thanks to Mtardiff for providing this bottle.

What a nice looking beer. Bright perfectly clear gold color with several strands of releasing bubbles. A fluffy/pillow like whipped egg white head with excellent retention. Some thick clumps of lace cling to the glass.

Aroma is sweet, pale malts, a touch of candied sugar. Perhaps pear and definitely lemon. A hint of yeast and pepper in the aroma. As the beer warms a layer of funk and earthiness emerges in the aroma. (becomes more complex) starting temp was 48...

Flavor is much less sweet than the aroma hints. I was shocked how dry the flavor actually is. I like this. Sometime I mention white pepper and here I almost need to upgrade that to black pepper, interesting. Yeast flavors and almost that burnt rubber flavor. Light bread just below the surface. A lasting bitterness sticks with you long after you swallow.

Fairly delicate body which is accentuated by the the lingering head, Borderline astringent on the tongue. (yeast?)

Pretty interesting beer. God Bless Clara wherever she is.

Bottle to HF stemmed tulip.

A - Partly cloudy pale yellow colour. Two fingers of lightly fluffy white head that quickly reduced to one finger with great lacing. Some large pieces of sediment floating in the bottom of the glass.

S - A musky barnyard funk aroma up front. Bready malts and lighter clove and peppery spice notes present as well.

T - The funk really hits up front and is accompanied by a pretty big tartness. Some wheat and Belgian yeast notes are present as well but the big barnyard funk presence really takes this beer over and dominates the other flavours that palate. There are also some grassy and herbal hop flavours in the background and a strange aftertaste that has hints of dill.

M - Medium body. Very dry. Moderate carbonation.
