Notes/Commercial Description:
Clara (1906-1969) was our grandfather’s sister; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to her and her 13 siblings. In her honor, this Grisette is crafted from American malted barley, Vermont Organic Wheat, European and American hops, our distinctive farmhouse yeast and water from our well. Unfiltered and naturally carbonated, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Clara.

Pale Malt, Organic Vermont Wheat, American and European Hops, Ale Yeast, and our Well Water

750ml bottle. Poured into a Hill Farmstead stemmed glass 12/5/2014.

A- Mildly hazy straw yellow body, very bright yellow hue with a one finger white head, nice retention time. Good lacing all throughout. A very vibrant appearing saison. [4]

S- Unsurprisingly for a Hill Farmstead saison, there is plenty of spicy wheat, toasted pale malt, bread, lemony citrus, floral notes and a bit of earth. Nice complexity and intensity. [4.25]

F- I find it difficult to believe it is a 4% ABV beer. This beer is packed full of flavours with a lot of intensity and complexity like in the nose. Citrus, bread, floral, earth, spicy wheat, a mild funk and mineral yeast flavours. [4]

M- Medium bodied, well carbonated, soft feel. Very drinkable. So much flavour for a 4% ABV beer. [4.25]

O- Very nice Grisette style beer that makes for a wonderfully complex table beer. I enjoyed this one quite a bit and would go after this again. [4]

Thanks Rifugium for the surprise hookup on this one. 750ml into a matching HF wine glass. The brew appears a golden yellow color with a white cap that fades leaving spotty lace.

The smell is citrus like grapefruit juice mixed with clove, pepper and some earthy yeast spiciness.

The taste is bitter and zesty with citrus like grapefruit. A little green vegetative note blends with a lemony tartness and mild brett influence across the finish. Some clove and pepper yeasty aftertaste.

This is a light bodied brew with modest carbonation. Its easy drinking and decent but the yeastiness doesnt blend all that great with the bitterness and tartness. Kinda an awkward hodgepodge but still worth trying.

Good deal of wheat, with some lemon and a tad bit of spice. Mild tartness. A decent beer, that I was I glad to try. No where near the best HF has to offer though.
