So - "The mystery saison is a blend of two different batches of arthur and a bit of a beer called 'mimosa' (working title... not official)."

The smell of the Mystery Saison was orange and citrus for sure, giving off moderate unicorn blanket stink. The balance was just right, definite orange citrus flavor with slightly more carbonated than their other saisons. A white clean head held it's own and settled at a cool speed, minimally sticking to the side of our glasses - best summer breakfast beer I've ever had.

Thanks Skrip for sharing!

A- Pours a hazy straw yellow with orange hues. A medium sized white head of medium-large bubbles that retains well and leaves good lacing.

S- Straw and wheat are in the fore-front of the aroma. Spicy, moderately funky, and juicy brett. Light tartness and a bit of citrus and lemon grass.

T- This is like a slightly less tart, more spicy version of Arthur. Nice citrus notes in the middle, followed by hay, wheat, and spice. Very bright and pleasant. Moderate funk reminds you that this is indeed brett fermented.

M- The mouth feel is highly carbonated, medium bodied, slightly puckering, and quite dry. Fits the style nicely.

O- Overall I really liked this saison. I would have loved a little more tartness and citrus, but it is still quite nice!

750ml bottle poured into a Hill Farmstead oversized wine glass.

A~ glowing yellow with a nice head and a little bit of lacing.

S~ lots of citrus up front, lemon, lime, orange and grapefruit. followed by some peppery saison yeast. all leading into some hay/straw like brett funk.

T~ once again the taste is more subtle than expected like CD2. pretty much follows the nose to a T. definitely a lot more citrus going on here though, oh its the little bit of Mimosa!

M~ a lot thicker than i expected but in a good way. still super smooth and refreshing. nice carbonation as always.

O~ such a nice treat! i love to see how all these brews blend together. you can really tell that its 2 versions of Arthur surprisingly, if that makes sense haha. and i'm gonna say the little bit of Mimosa adds that nice citrus of course, and more! this really held up better than i expected, still worth drinking if you have a bottle!

pour is clear yellow, bubbles flowing throughout, pure white head. Nose has fair bit of Saison, light pepper, hints of citrus and maybe a faint touch of barrel. Taste is similar, Saison yeast and light pepper, a bit sweeter, citric and lemon with a bit of malt showing. Still rather dry and highly carbonated. Not as bright as Ann, a bit less deep and a touch sweet in the finish but still extremely drinkable with gentle barrel integration.

Big thanks to metalgdog for sharing this bottle...

A: Pours a great light yellow straw with light orange hues around the edges. The head on this beer is ridiculous. Even when pouring just a bit into my tasting glass, there is about a full finger of foam.

S: The nose is citrus (more orange than lemon or grapefruit) with a mix of brett and rose hips. There is also a good amount of peppery spice. In the background, I'm getting a bit of light malt. Mmm.

T: The beer starts out with it's funky notes right up front. A bit of brett and pepper mix on the palate for a few seconds. The light citrus and comes on next as the peppery notes linger. A punch of orange peel and light malt shine through in the finish.

M: Light bodied beer. It starts out wet and engaging, but finishes really dry.

O: This is a really good beer. The funk, pepper, citrus, and malt are all working together on this one to make the experience really enjoyable. However, I think I liked Anna a bit more.

Rare bottle to taste.
The beer pours a hazy golden yellow with a big, fluffy white head. The nose is a slightly yeasty citrus. The taste is also very yeasty with a big, bitter aftertaste. It definitely pushes the Saison to the limit with it's hoppiness and reminds me a lot of the only other hill farmstead Saison I've ever had. Very drinkable Saison that goes down incredibly smooth. Grab a bottle if you can!

A cellar temperature bottle poured into a large red wine glass. I was lucky enough to get one of the last bottles available from the brewery, purchased a week after the release. It's been in my cellar since that time.

The beer is a clear golden liquid with many streams of carbonation rising within. There is a large white foam head. It has settled down to about two fingers worth of thickness, leaving plenty of lacing.

Even while pouring this beer, I could smell a healthy amount of Brett. The Brett is still apparent while I actively inhale from my glass, but there is a lot more going on here than just the wild yeast. I smell orange and lemon citrus, Belgian candi sugar, and some grassy hops.

The beer has a light, grassy flavor. There is plenty of orange and lemon. I really like the sweetness a touch of funk in the finish. There is a great mustiness in the aftertaste that works really well.

The beer is slightly thick, with plenty of carbonation. Despite all of the bubbles and the sour flavors, there is hardly any tingling sensation. Nor is there much stickiness. A slight coat has plenty of fruit and grass flavors.

This is a really great beer. Like everything else brewed here, it is worth checking out. Too bad this one was a one-time only brew.

Wow was this carbonated. The head just kept growing and growing, but to be fair, we had some coffee porter in the same glass before the pour (tailgating does not lend itself to ideal glassware situations, but thanks to jh1982 for taking care of that). Citrus and bready aroma, some wisecrack about SF Lemon Sourdough.

Really excelled in the flavor department, a chunky bready mild tang and sour thing going for it, so clean, not having this in a barrel may have lent this a cleaner vibe instead of the horse blanket with spoiled expensive cheese aroma flavor thing. All the better says I, I've tended to notice that my favorite saisons are almost indistiguishable from berlinner weisses as to my favorite qualities in the better examples of them. This was light, yet substantial, sour, citrus, tangy kind of beer. Man, these must be awesome to drink around a pool.
