George was our grandfather’s brother, and Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his 13 siblings.

George is our American Brown Ale. Hopped, rightfully so, with Centennial, Cascade, and a touch of Columbus…

On tap at Beachwood in Long Beach, CA.

Well, pretty much the George Foreman of Brown Ales. Rich, full, thick with caramel flavors... This beer in a way has more texture than most acclaimed stouts out there - it really is insane in a way. Overall, It's just nice, full and flavorful like a sleepover with Adriana Lima.

Just happiness, my peeps.

Poured from 6 day old 30 liter keg into British pint glass.

A - Beautiful brown, slightly opaque. Carbonated extremely well, leading to a
wonderful caramel colored cap.
S - A touch of roast, some hazelnut and caramel. The floral component sets off
an interesting medley of light citrus, lightly roasted malt and brown sugar.
T - Right in the sweet spot, a brown ale that is structured well. Elements of dark fruit,
slightly dry roasted malt, and a fantastic hop finish. Every cylinder is firing on this beer.
The malt, hop structure borders on genius.
F - Medium bodied, starts with a delicate dance from carbonation, leads into a creaminess
that almost befuddles, then a tight dry finish.
O - A wonderful version of brown ale, with the tightly defined signature of Hill Farmstead.
The balanced approach and refined touch make this a favorite.

Cheers all

Second brown ale of the evening after a long period of avoiding the style. First one was Phil from Marshall Wharf. This was better, but not by much. Both were thoroughly enjoyable and extremely drinkable. Reminded me a bit of Tootsie Rolls. Light with nice carmely, chocolaty notes.

Intense nose of hazelnut. These are back in mouth and give a strong bitter taste. Quickly, aromas of milk chocolate and hops take their place. Bitterness is strong and dry and chocolate taste remains.
