Colaboration time

A-Pours a translucent yet glowing honey hue. Big, fluffed white head that retains its girth exceptionally well. Leaves heaps of lacing. Looks big and bold.

S-The beer's aromatics are not stunning but the are quite pleasing. Not a high intensity aroma. I get a nice amount of fruity hops and grains. Smells pretty balanced too. Malt is sturdy and displays heavy notes of biscuit and dough.

T-Plentiful amounts of citrus and tropical fruits. Bitterness is semi-subtle, especially for a Hill Farmstead brew. Well balanced and not overly coercive. Malts really balance this one out.

M-Creamy for a DIPA. Displays a strong resinous and syrupy quality. Medium bitterness.

O/D-A very nice DIPA but it maybe my least favorite Hill Farmstead affiliated hoppy beer I have tried. Still phenomenal, but a bit too relaxed. That being said, it still beats 90%of the DIPAs I can readily buy...Maybe 95% of them.

Review from notes taken at Cigar City Brewing taproom on 7/15/12. Poured on draft into a Cigar City snifter.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy light golden color with a 1 finger fluffy snow white head. Excellent lacing.

Smell: Grassy and floral hops with a touch of grapefruit.

Taste: Pine, grapefruit and lemon zest with a sweet citrus background. Aftertaste is bitter citrus. Very well-balanced.

Mouthfeel: Medium-to-full-bodied with a good amount of carbonation.

Drinkability: Good drinkability, especially for a beer with 9.2% ABV.

Overall: Excellent beer overall. I feel fortunate to have been in Tampa when CCB had this one on draft. An excellent double IPA and one that you should definitely try if you have the chance.

Reviewed from notes. Had on-tap at CCB tasting room. Poured into snifter.

A: Hazy light orange brown in color, with a beautiful white head. Nice amount of visible carbonation for a DIPA.

S: Wow, this smells good. Nose is tropical fruit and citrus hops, a little grassy, with caramel malts.

T: Hops dominated (of course) - mango, peach, tropical fruits, orange rind - with sugary caramel malts.

M: Lighter mouthfeel than typical for a DIPA. Nice amount of carbonation on the tongue. Alcohol is essentially absent. Culminates in a bittersweet finish that hangs around for a bit.

O: This is really good. Another excellent beer from Hill Farmstead in a collaboration with CCB.

750mL growler poured into tulip - thanks alex

Pours a hazy golden orange with a nice froth of white head resting on top. Plenty of patchy lacing on the glass and filmy, thick retention resting on the brew.

Explosive, juicy fruit hops in the nose with plenty of tropical fruit. Orange and grapefruit with pineapple and tangerine. Bitter and sweet at the same time with a very faint notion of alcohol.

Bitter and juicy up front with plenty of fruit character. Oranges, grapefruit, pineapple, mango and more dance across the tongue. Lighter malt backbone with bready hints and soft sweetness. Continued citrus pith and pulp with bitter dryness in the finish. Light warmth as well.

Medium body, decent carbonation, sticky and dry on the tongue. Another delicious hoppy beer from HF - I don't think they've really missed the mark yet.

Shared by yourefragile. Thanks Michael.

The beer is hazy and yellow with a thin white head. The aroma offers booze, tropical fruits, hops. Good flavor, smooth on the palate with some warming alcohol throughout. Tropical fruits are pleasant, but somewhat masked by booze. Still, a nice flavor. Lingering fruit, booze, and just a mild bitterness. Another solid beer from Hill Farmstead, though not among my favorites from this brewery.

***revisited this beer on my current vacation through the lovely state of Vermont. This review is a drastic upgrade - wow, what a beer - and close to the source.

On draft at Prohibition Pig in Waterbury, VT.

The beer appears a radiant, golden yellow hue, like the sun. Beautiful color. The head is approximately an inch thick, appearing pure white and leaving a thick sheet of sticky lacing on the snifter. The aroma offers a bouquet of citrus. Tropical notes including mango, pineapple, oranges. The flavor is simply outstanding. Wow. A tropical fruit bomb with nary a hint of alcohol. A delicate bitterness in the finish with lingering citrus and hops. Stunning. Medium bodied and chuggable. I highly recommend this brew.

Growler poured into a GI tulip

A - Golden, hazy yellow. Has a nice head that settled down to a rocky layer of foam.

S - Light honey sweetness mixed in with tropical fruits of tangerine and pineapple

T - Light honey sweetness hits the palate first. Then, there is a mix of tropical flavors with pineapple and orange. Next, on the finish, the is a slight bitter pine that cuts through that I didn't notice in the nose. Overall, nicely flavored and balanced IIPA that brings a nice mix of flavors.

MF - Light body overall but has plenty of carbonation that gives this a nice, thick mouthfeel. This actually works out well for the beer as it makes it easy to drink while still having a nice thick body you expect from the style.

O - Overall, a solid DIPA from Hill Farmstead. I was really impressed by the mouthfeel and the array of hops t hat show themselves is this one.

Growler thanks to m100, poured into a snifter.

A: Pours a very hazy orange, with a half inch white head. Very sticky lacing.

S: Very tropical smelling. Pineapple, grapefruit, orange. Very nice.

T: Loads of citrus up front. Bitterness cuts the tropical fruit, but it still manages to finish sweet. Slight alcohol taste at the end, but subtle for such a big DIPA.

M: Creamy, full bodied brew. Carbonation is just right.

O: Another very solid offering from HF. I continue to be extremely impressed with their IPA/DIPAs, and this one is near the top.

Had this on 2012-07-04 in Paoli, PA at TJ's

A - Hazy orange with a short head and mild lace.

S - Dank and some citrus. Not real strong but pleasant.

T - Big, bright citrus, touch of pineapple, very subdued malt/rice flavor, hop buds. Alcohol is present but well-integrated. More bitter than Double Citra but less malt. Tasted great.

M - Light-medium body and light carbonation. Prickly, resinous yet soft, light and smooth.

O - I don't think I've ever had a beer with an ABV this high that also seemed light and fresh. I had it side-by-side with Double Citra and this almost held it's own with it.
