The series of experimental Double IPAs continues. This one is hopped with ample amounts of Columbus and is reminiscent of… an Imperial Harlan?

Hazy gold pour with a lingering head. Smell is subdued but dank, vegetal and piney. Taste brings more of the same - rather than being fruity it's more reminiscent of a walk in the woods. The bitterness is forward but not overpowering. Indeed, the beer as a whole has a kind of laid-back vibe to it. Very nice.
I just noticed the description suggests it might be reminiscent of an imperial Harlan. I had a Harlan yesterday, and didn't draw a connection, but now that I've seen that, I'll try then both side by side and maybe update my ratings.

This is a dank, piney, catty IPA! I expected all juice and tropical, but I guess I should’ve known better based on the labeled hops! Old school West Coast IPA monikers. This is the first time I’ve seen the acknowledgement of the trademark on Simcoe hops...seems odd. Cloudy, golden, fair head retention. Smell is fairly modest: sweet and hoppy, with a faint allium whiff from the Simcoe. Mouthfeel is prickly and Bitter with a capital ‘B’. A good one, but not your typical tropical juice bomb of a NEIPA. Thanks warnerry!

Hazy golden look. Aroma is floral and fruity. Taste is fruity but rounded, hoppy but not too bitter. Light body, easy drinking, very well balanced. It has the nice HF character.
