375ml bottle split two ways with Dustin. Thanks a lot man! Bottled 5/2013, poured into a Hill Farmstead stemmed glass today, 3/3/2014.
App- hazy amber copper body. One finger white head, good retention, drops into a nice medium sized collar. Nice lacing.
Smell- Quite tart, with a vinegary acidity that isn't overwhelming with a nice citrus, orange peel nose that comes out much more as it warms. Background notes of grapes and oak. I can't understate how much the citrus comes out in this beer. Damn. What a great smelling saison.
Flavour- Quite tart with that Northeast Kingdom funk that is so pleasant when combined with a 6/10 acidity that makes me think American wild ale. Warming up, I get more citrus- orange juice, orange peel, lemon zest. White wine grapes and oak. If this is Juicy, sign me up! Very tasty, complex and interesting.
Mouthfeel- medium bodied, perfect carbonation, mellow and not intense on the backend aside from citrus peel.
Overall- This blended saison exceeded my expectations. Enjoyed this one a lot!
