This is my second Trapp beer tasted and I continue to be overwhelmed. I told my daughter to bring as much of this home from Vermont as she could and she was kind enought to do so. This beer comes in a big flippy bottle. This is as rich and luscious a Helles as I've ever had, which is plenty. A nice hazy gold in the glass; the bottle-poured head fluffed right up. Decent lacing followed the beer down all the way. Wonder-full malts with just the right hop balance create a great, smooth taste. The sweetness is in there but just enough. The conditioning is light which adds to the silky mouthfeel. This is a great beer!

On cask poured into a plastic pint glass.

Pours a very light yellow with a super light white head and a very thin head. Nose is light and hoppy and very nice. It's sweet and fruity.

Tate is phenomenal, it's light ad crisp and super hoppy. It's very drinkable ad smooth. One of the best helles i've ha in a long time!

Poured into a massive imperial pilsner glass, golden with a slight haze and a big foamy white head that has a decent retention. Smell is bready malts, sweet and somewhat sugary, some raw grains. Taste is sweet up front with a slightly bitter finish, sweet bread dough, pilsner malts, spicy hops. Medium bodied with a medium carbonation, clean finish. Helles is one of my favorite German styles and this does not disappoint. I think this is one of the best American takes on the style and I would gladly order this whenever I can. A very drinkable beer.

Had a pint at the Farm House in Burlington VT. Damn, it's hard to ask for much more from a helles. There's a crisp dry Brady malt character in the aroma with a little balance of spicy hops. There's mild lager fruit over the malt, but it's not sweet. Otherwise it's clean and super drinkable. Find this beer.

On tap at Worthy Burger. Served in a snifter.

Appearance - Mostly clear body with a nice white head. Excellent lacing without the best retention.

Smell - Meh. I think it's diacetyl. Not a crisp smell. Muddled pale malts and a slight hop aroma.

Taste - Mostly pale malt. Again muddled by what I think is diacetyl. Finishes a bit crisper. Slight hop bite.

Mouthfeel - Medium body. Served warm which made it seem a bit sluggish to drink.

Overall - I was hoping for some VT magic in this, but it's just another mediocre American lager.

Tap: Poured a deep golden color Helles with a small foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of clean cereal notes with light floral aroma. Taste is also dominated by light floral aromas with some clean cereal notes a medium sweet finish. Body is about average for style with medium carbonation. Refreshing and well brewed for style.

Poured on tap at the Trapp Family Lodge into a stoneware mug 16 oz.

Well I can't see this beer other than peering down into the mug after the white creamy foam head settles, ergo I dock off .5 a point. What I can see is a nice fourteen carat gold and clear body, nice creamy white top to go with it. Otherwise it's a 4.

Great smelling crisp malts on this, white bread, a little bit of raw dough and yeast. Bakery fresh smelling. Very nice.

Taste matches the nose nicely. Big huge crisp malts and toasty white bread on this beer. Some hidden sticky character in there also, with some nice simple grass like hop. Refreshing, with a big carbonation matching crispy character.

Overall a real light brew full of flavor. Great beer to have on the deck.

On draft at Leunig's Bistro, Burlington, Vermont.

Poured a medium straw hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.

The smell featured fresh bready malts with a vibrant grassy noble hop.

The taste was likewise fresh with clean soft malts and a sparking drying hop spice. Good cracker like finish with a touch of sweetness on the very back end.

The mouthfeel was typical of the style. Fine carbonation.

Overall a top notch lager and a super drinkable treat.

a) From tap at the source in a Trapp Lager pint glass. Straw color and crystal clear. Bright white, head. About an inch. A few bubles. I'm told they filter this beer and that's fine with me. It's gorgeous.

s) A little grain, some sweetness. Not much in the way of hops as expected.

t) Bready, grainy but not as much as the smell would lead on. Just the right amount of bitterness at the end without getting in the way. All kinds of flavor for such a light, clear beer. Just a hint of sulfur but pleasantly so.

m) Crisp, light, medium carbonation which makes it go down well.

d) Off the charts. Quite simply one of the most drinkable beers I've had, and it's winter. Can't imagine how nice this must go down on a hot summer day. Rich in flavor without being heavy.

Well done.
