An amber lager style that has all but disappeared over the last century. This soft, delicate beer has a touch more of a sweet finish than Helles. With a slightly higher alcohol level of 5%, this lager is still very drinkable. A subtle hop finish rounds out this delicious lager.

I suspect this is the last one of these I'll have for a while. The Trapp beers come in quart (whoops - liter) flippies which is a format homebrewers like. The Vienna is a toasted hazy gold in the glass and the head was pretty sturdy. Initial smells seem subtle but inviting and get better. It's that first wonderful soft so balanced lager taste that wins every time for this beer and its brewery. An absolute Olympic gold medal winner.

8oz pour into a small glass.

Pours a golden amber color with a very small white head. Nose is a bit sulfury and sweet with a light maltiness.

Taste is very rich and malty and super drinkable. There's a very lIght hoppiness and smooth crisp finish. Really this is an xcelle t xample of the style a bit less toasty than I'd like but very good.

Poured clear with a good frothy head. Good retention. Smell is sweet malt with a very faint caramel/cotton candy aroma. Taste is moderately sweet malt, commanding but not cloying. There is a faint burnt caramel edge that doesn't quite fit in, and this affects the otherwise near perfect mouthfeel. Very drinkable, would be an A+ if the malt was a little smoother.

Bottled on: ? (Picked it up fresh in July)

Purchased @ Trapp Family Lodge, Stowe Vt on a joint family vacation with Rochefort10nh.

Price - $18.00/bottle (1 quart 1.8oz)

Pours a beautiful shade of copper with a two inch fluffy white head and great legs. Much more lacing than I was expecting.

The smell begins with a sweet aroma of caramel malt followed by fresh baked bread and floral hops.

The taste is lite and not overly sweet with caramel, bananas and bread.

Mouthfeel is soft and creamy smooth from start to finish with a medium body. Slightly carbonated and very drinkable. There is a build up over time of some dryness from the hops which adds to the balance.

Overall this is a very solid lager and true to the style. I also enjoyed their Dunkel lager on tap which was just as enjoyable.

Tap: Poured a light clear amber color lager with a small foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of light cereal notes with light caramelized malt notes. Taste is a mix of light medium-sweet caramel malt with some cereal and grainy notes. Body is light with good carbonation. Nothing earth shattering here but well balanced and easily drinkable.

Poured from the bottle into a pilsner style glass.

Lots of head on this, with lots of uniform pinhead bubbles, and off tan white head color with a real nice crown. Body is a real golden brown dark and filled with lots of rising carbonation that creeps slowly. Nice looking and aggressive.

Nose is very light toasty malts, a faint honey. Hints of wood, light toffee and sweet caramel just hiding in the back.

Palate hits withe an almost soda wet carbonation, but the flavors are nice and toasty rich. Light airy toast with hints of gaseous carbon dioxide. Crispy hop finish, and grass like tastes on the aftertaste. Quenching and quite dry.

Overall a real satisfying Vienna Lager.

On tap at Trapp Family Lodge Brewery in Stowe, Vermont.

Pours a clear copper color, with a half inch head, and a little bit of lacing.

Smells like light caramel, grassy hops, lager yeast, and very toasty bread.

The taste is basically the same, a quite delicious Vienna lager. Only Sierra Nevada and GL Eliot Ness are possibly better than this one, it's clear Trapp's goal was to make a distinctive and traditional lager here. Very mild caramel sweetness, some honeyed toasted bread, and spicy Noble hop flavor, just slightly bitter. Subtle and understated, but still tasty.

This one has a light body, with a crisp, clean, bready mouthfeel, and a higher level of carbonation.

Another good, clean, simple and authentic lager from Trapp.

On draft at The Farm House Tap and Grill, Burlington, NY.

Poured a dull copper hue with a one half finger foamy white head. There was decent retention and lacing.

The smell featured a soft earthy caramel and light grassy hop.

The taste consisted of light toasted malts, a soft caramel and grassy balancing hop.

The mouthfeel was toward the rounder side of the style.

Overall a tasty malt forward lager.

Appearance - Clear amber/copper colour with a small size frothy white coloured head. There is an average amount of carbonation showing and there is a faint amount of lacing on the sides of the glass. The head lasted for around 4 minutes before it began to dissipate.

Smell - breads/grains, toffee, grass, light hops

Taste & Mouth - The beer has a below average amount of carbonation and it has a slightly creamy feel to it. I can taste breads/grains, malts, and a fair amount of toffee flavour. I can also pick up on some hops and a bit of a nuttiness. It finishes with a malty and sweet aftertaste.

Drink - A pretty bang on example of the style. The flavour is very well balanced and it would work well as a session beer.
