This beer pours a cloudy dark golden color. A thin creamy white head forms in the pilsner glass that it came in. Some small very dispersed bubbles inside the glass indicates a slight carbonation. Aromas of caramel, malt, and sweetness. The first sip gives you flavors of caramel, malt, and a hint of maple. While the beer is crisp almost dry with a pleasant sweetness. A good drinking beer.

Served on tap in a pint glass.

Appearance: Brownish amber color, off white head. Mild lacing on the glass.

Smell: Hops, malt and some earthy tones.

Mouthfeel/Taste: Smooth medium bodied. Taste was bitter and not much else, hints of some earthy notes, but had to distinguish exactly what.

Overall: Typical Oktoberfest in my opinion, nothing special, but not bad to drink.

Off tap at the lodge itself this beer was a clear/amber color with two fingers worth of khaki-colored head. The retention was good as a collar and the lacing in thin bands. The aroma was sweet with lots of caramel, toasted malt, bread and some hints of nuts. The flavors were quite similar with a sweet, malty core buttressed by toasted grains, hazelnuts, caramelized sugars, a little butter (diaceytal) and a slightly grainy, dry finish. The grainy aftertaste lingered pleasantly on my tongue. The mouthfeel was creamy, the body medium and the carbonation perfect.

On-tap at Flat Street brewpub. Pours a translucent, light copper with a creamy, bright white head. Nose exhibits a typical Marzen smell - caramel/toffee and skunk. The various malts and grains really come out quite distinctly in the flavor profile. Starts out with a little sweetness and the skunky quality also comes out again; however, it all comes together nicely. Mouthfeel lis light-medium, with an almost cask-like feel to the carbonation. I wasn't sure what to expect from this brewer, but I really quite enjoyed this brew. Delicate and flavorful with a fair amount of complexity. I look forward to trying more from this brewery in the future.

Pours a dull, mild reddish color with a one-finger head. I haven't been let down by this brewery thus far.

Aroma is full of light, grainy malt with just a hint of sweetness/smokiness to it.

Taste is full of sweet, rich malt upfront. Grainy texture accompanies it. Warm. Authentic.

Mouthfeel is dry but tolerable. Feels more like a marzen should. Carbonation seems just about right.

Wow. Is this the closest that you can get to a true marzen? I hope so! So far, one of the best examples I've ever had.

On tap poured into a plastic pint glass.

Pours a nice deep amber with a small thin light brown head. Nose is light, sweet and malty.

Taste is crisp and malty with a really biscuity. Mouthfeel us full and thick. Very easy drinking as it should be. Decent example.
