A humble brewery with the capacity of 2,000 barrels per year attracted attention under the name Trapp Lager, and the brewery received requests from all over the United States. The von Trapp family, who had always been reticent to commercialize their family heritage, realized that they had a product deserving of the family name. The new 30,000 sq. ft. facility, completed in 2015 under the name von Trapp Brewing, allowed the family to expand beyond their home territory and spread the gospel of craft lagers throughout Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island, New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Virginia, and Philadelphia.

Considering I now temporarily live in Europe, in hindsight this is a pretty authentic vibe. Had a lodge-like feel, yet quite cozy and warm. A bit of an older crowd and family-oriented, with great beer offerings and delicious Austrian/German food. Great merch and beer to-go, too!

After winding your way up the hill, the Bierhall sits on a nice opening with a view of the mountains. Large hunting lodge feel with a large biergarten. Authentic German beers and good German food. Friendly, good service.

Really large, fantastic location next to the ski slopes that is definitely worth seeing. The beer ranges from good to very good in terms of quality. Choices are mostly lighter European styles. The bartender we had was great. Austrian/German food is pretty decent. Overall a memorable stop.

So, right up front, this place is crazy lit. I really had no clue von Trapp had such a huge draw. Of all the renowned breweries in the area, this is the one that's most built up, and most ready for the massive dinner crowd it seems to be confident it can steadily bring in, which it does with panache.

On our way here, we decided to peruse the website and look at the reservations page, only to find they were booked solid. As we continued our drive, a spot fortuitously popped up, and we took it. Good thing, too, because there was a 30 yard line out the door just for drinks and a pretzel, which is all you can get without resos, and the reason we wanted to come here in the first place was for the full dinner menu. I can't imagine coming here not knowing the scene, AND not having a reso--this review might have taken a turn.

The food is obviously German themed--and especially Oktoberfesty this day, given the season--and the beer is fine to good. But considering how little awareness I had around this brewery relative to others, I'm just absolutely floored at what I'm witnessing. I know they have their own sort of captive audience here, considering they also host guests at their lodge, but they've clearly made a name for themselves some other way, and I'd love to know more. Between the leaf peeping and skiing seasons, I'm sure they've become a reliable standby to visitors who come back yearly anyway.

Whatever the case may be, service was excellent. Beyond excellent. They were all really on top of their game. From front of house, to waitstaff, to the kitchen, things were buzzing. Like a well-oiled machine, they readily checked up on tables and brought orders in and out efficiently. I couldn't be more impressed, even if it was a little weird just how asses to elbows it was here, particularly in the middle of a pandemic. In a state that was otherwise very cautious everywhere else we went, it felt a little unusual, and oddly defiant. Despite the somewhat grandiose setting, it felt a little clunky and messy inside due to the crowd, but I can't imagine how difficult it must be to keep in order, so I can't ding them too much for it.

The visit turned out to be serendipitous in more than one way, as a storm that we otherwise might have gotten caught in whipped through right during dinner service, complete with tornado watches. And just as it was over, we were off on our merry way.

We stopped by to have a beer at the end of the day last weekend. We ordered a beer at the inside bar and were told we could sit at the outer picnic tables outside. Dog friendly and kid friendly and most people were eating. The beer is very good as it is from cans at home. The selection was the core lineup and nothing you cant get in a can in their distro. Service at the bar was fine, we only ordered one draft each and there was no crowd. The view was lauded as amazing, its not. A very open nice field with little view but trees. Quite a relaxing location with large loose stones to walk on. I could see hanging out here for a long period of time drinking a few good beers.

Amazing location located on the von Trapp resort about a mile or so from the main lodge. Big beer hall with excellent food options and an excellent assortment of lagers. Everything was extremely fresh, crisp, clean, very good! The service was excellent, the selection was awesome, and the food was really great too! It has a very lodge/beerhall vibe that I imagine is a good time all year round. Overall it's worth a stop if you're in the area!

Fitting that it's located on top of a mountain, The place is very nice and definitely has a tourist(y) feel to it. The service was good despite having longer waiting times due to Covid protocol and such. The food was good and the selection wasn't too bad but there were a couple beers I was hoping to try there that weren't on at the time. That's on me more than them since I was there during the wrong time of year. Overall it's a nice spot.

On setting alone, this is worth a visit - great views and a fantastic cozy, apres ski chalet vibe. Food selection is diverse and tasty - sausages, German salads, but ample veggie options as well. Von Trapp beer continues to expand slowly in terms of style while remaining true to German/Austrian roots. Definitely worth a visit pre/post Alchemist.

Tons of parking available, the hilltop location (well, almost) gives views reminiscent of Bavarian bierkellers, lacking the chestnut trees but being family-friendly. There is even a small pond available if the kids want to terrorize frogs. All of their very authentic German/Austrian style beers are (usually, seasonals vary) on tap as well as available in cans and/or bottles. The food is very good and pretty authentic, with even the wursts being ground more like true wursts rather than the American take on sausages found in most "authentic" German food stores (If you have access to an Aldi's, you can get wursts that are properly ground.) Indoor and outdoor seating. Gift shop.

Cool brew hall with a nice selection of European-inspired lagers and ales. If you sit at the bar, you can order food so if the line for a table is long, keep this in mind. We tried a flight and then ordered the Helles lager, which was crisp, clean, and sessionable. We tried pretzels with beer cheese and we were happy that they actually served enough beer cheese for both pretzels (some places can be skimpy -- no names mentioned here). We also tried the salad plate which consisted of five different types of root vegetable salads (beet, carrot, celeraic, turnip, fennel) and they were all very good. The combo of sharing the pretzels and salads with someone hit the spot for a hot summer day. Service was also prompt and everyone seemed nice enough despite the fact they were slammed. Good beer, good food, good service. Check them out.

Good middle european food and vibe. Sometimes a bit boring music (austrian/german brass music). The beers are mediocre but the staff is attentive and friendly. A little bit Hofbräuhaus feeling...

Mixed gift shop, ski lodge, hotel vibe. Restaurant is the prominent feature. Pretzels and beer cheese is great, ribeye was great, and chicken schnitzel was fantastic. Had the Dunkel and Bienna lagers. Both tasty and traditional. In comparison to Alchemist brews down the hill, they will seem thin and weak, but they are great for their style and pair well with the food.

Huge place with a big bar, several tables, an outside picnic seating area, and separate retail area. Von Trapp doesn’t make a ton of beers, but the ones they do are spot on great beers. Their Vienna is amazing. The service was great as we sat at the bar. The selection is fairly limited as far as beer, but they have a nice German leaning food menu. I tried the wurst sampler and enjoyed it the mash potatoes were a highlight. If you like well executed German beers you aren’t going to be unhappy here.
