One of my favorite breweries to stop by and hang out at in VT. Its pretty obvious that the brewery is a very secondary aspect of the trapp business, but they do an excellent job nonetheless. They focus exclusively on brewing lagers and they are some of the best lagers i have ever tasted. As long as you dont go on a bad day, the view from their back deck is amazing and it is very relaxing to order a beer to try while sitting out there. It seems like this brewery has set very solid goals for what they want to make and the inage they want, and i think they have achieved them. Not the most dynamic or creative brewery in VT, but definitely one of my favorites.

Me and my particular group of friends got spousal permission to go to Germany but alas the trip fell through. Settled on Waterbury and beer camping. Loved the area which is pretty special. For some German (or Austrian) atmosphere we decided to take a ride to The Trapp Lodge. I love history, Germany, beer and the movie so I was looking forward to it. Lodge was nice, would not mind staying there with the family one day but we were camping. We were pointed down to the brewery which we had apparently passed and was a bit down the road we came up. Bakery was downstairs and the bar is on the second floor (there is a new brewery site further down the road). The German food, beer and view were spot on to Bavaria (relatively speaking). Nice to have a helles in IPA land. People were friendly, but it is Vermont people and good reliable help is hard to find- you have to understand that wherever you go.
Not bavaria- but a close as I am getting this year. Recommend.
