12oz bottle with what I'm guessing is the Best By date of 12-27-10 into a DFH glass.

A - Murky and dark orange body shows a small off white head that recedes quickly leaving little in the way of lacing.

S - Faint hops citrus and floral notes with a hint of fruit esters from the yeast.

T - medium up front bitterness with a less than stellar hops flavor in the finish. Some pineapple and grapefruit notes. This brew has a mild solvency to it which seems out of place for the ABV. The hops flavor seems muddled and confusing. Low malt sweetness or caramel which is OK, but this comes off as biting and a bit harsh.

M - Medium bodied and dry this one does have a crisp finish, but there is a tinge of hot/solvent booze here.

D - Low. This one has lower bitterness and the flavor and bite of it are off putting to me.

Clear yellow in color. Forms a moderate sized white head. Decent retention. Moderate lacing. Aroma is a mixture of pale and light caramel malts along with some lighter citrus hops. May be a touch of citrus zest. Taste is more of the same. Light sweetness with an appreciable, but not overbearing malty backbone. Sweet citrus and sweet orange hops. There is a mild green apple jolly-rancher quality to the beer as well. On the lighter side of medium in body. Lighter bitterness. Moderate carbonation. A fairly average, run-of-the-mill IPA.

Pours an orange amber hue with a small off white head. Aroma and Taste is of floral citrus hops, yeast, fruity notes with caramel malt. Palate is a medium body, nicely balanced malt and hops with good carbonation. Finish is caramel malt, yeast, fruity with floral pine hops for balance. Overall a good nicely balanced IPA.

Poured into hort tumbler glasses; drnk at 45-55 degrees over 10-20 minutes.

Clear, deep amber with good retention of a cottony head.
Smells like a French Sauvignon Blanc more than a beer—grassy, minerally, and volatile nitrogenous bronze.
Malt is the foundation of the taste experience atop which sits metal, nutmeg, orange, and as it warms, toasted lentils and beans.
Not much impressive about the mouthfeel, but late in gulps, the rear-tongue burn is welcome. Salty pretzels give this beer more appeal.
Overall, it is not representative of the style. But there is a winey richness that keeps one quaffing. It is also more boozy than the 7% ABV would predict.
