A thanks to the prince of pale ales, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a golden/orange color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of grapefruit, pine. Taste is the same as the aroma, malts are present, slightly bitter for the style. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is an enjoyable beer.

My third entry in/of New Tying Up Loose Ends Beer Sunday (Week 759) loops us back to Week 750! M'man @Jimmy_Kneecaps was the impetus then & remains my CANspiration now. I ran through a LOT of Odd Side Ales' beers that day & since then I have scored a few more, as well as finding some in the backlog, to stay CANrent with The CANQuest (tm).
From the CAN: "Extra Pale Ale"; "The hop fairies have taken charge on this extra pale ale! A well balanced ale with loads of flavorful hops."
Say, what is it with some of these names? Is this like a Rorschach test wherein I am the only one who sees smut? I guess that it comes with having a dirty mind! 8=)
I decided to leave that to others to answer & CANtinued with a Crack! of the vent, followed by a slow, gentle C-Line Glug. This resulted in the brief formation of just under two fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, eggshell-white head with moderate retention that fell to wisps as I was typing. 8=( Color was a gorgeous Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7) with NE-quality clarity, prompting The Gelt Gang of Midas, Mammon & Croesus to come into the kitchen from the living room & join me for a taste. Nose held an interesting admixture of grapefruit, pine resin & caramel. Nice, especially for an APA. Mouthfeel was medium, but the most solid beer of the day. The taste was delicate in terms of its hoppiness/ bitterness in that while I still perceived grapefruit & pine resin, they were not as intense as on the nose. Thankfully, neither was the caramel, which might have otherwise rendered it too sweet, both for myself & the style. I liked the way that it emulated an AIPA without venturing totally into that style's territory. In fact, the finish was nicely dry and just bitter enough without going over the top. It was not the style's standard bearer, SNPA, but it was still quite good. YMMV.

Calls itself a pale ale. Low malt, you could call it a "light New England IPA." It is a cloudy, light yellow. Somewhat unbalanced towards hop flavors, but given that is the intent of the beer, it is well crafted.

Pale clear yellow, good initial head
Not much in the nose, slight pine scent
Dry crackery malt, pepper, turning slowly to pine
Clean crisp mouthfeel
Simple, easy drinking, refreshing. Nothing complicated but enjoyable.

I got a can of this off the Binnys single shelf. It poured a hazy yellow with thin white head that is not leaving any lace. The scent has bitter citrus. The taste is bitter citrus but drinkable. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it's a decent beer.

Bold bossy and assertive hop whallop kicks down the door and commands all your attention. Bitterness for days and lots of piney dank hoppy goodness. Hard to believe this is just a 5% brew. Loved it.
