12oz bottle into a .3l tulip from jermy as an extra in a pipeworks box he sent. Thanks!

Perfect out of the bottle into the glass. Light billowy top, generous lacing, brite burnt copper pour. Legs that go all the way up...

Excellent aroma as well - lemon grass, pepper and citrus pith. The whole experience really shapes up nicely until the taste which is a letdown with this much well-executed build-up.

Maybe this is a regional taste thing, but I prefer a whole lot *more* to my ales. I get that one note, when it's a great note, plays. But, and this may be me, when you've created a brew with an aroma full of subtle notes I expect that the taste will follow. This didn't. Taste's like citrus pith.

Nice, light with the only knock being the lack of crisp finish. The taste lingers long after the liquid is gone.

I can't drop the taste below 3.75 - but it also prevents me from raising the overall score any higher.

Appearance: Light brown color. Pours with about half a finger of head which subsided to the edges of the glass. Sticky random lacing on the sides of the glass with each drink. Average carbonation active while drinking.

Smell: A pleasant bouquet of citra hops greet the drinker which mixes incredibly well with a rounded sweet caramel malt aroma. Mangos, orange peel, kiwis, gum drops, and cane sugar all explode out of the glass.

Taste: A lot of the same characteristics in the aroma show up here. Candy sweet hops dance around on the palate with tropical fruit tones which all stay grounded and balanced with a syrupy sweet malt backbone. The hops continue to be very active long after drinking. Slight dryness left on the palate.

Mouthfeel: Light, easy going, nice malt presence felt.

Overall: An excellent APA. The citra hops give a distinct hoppiness to this beer yet a very solid malt backbone keeps it in the APA category. Easy drinking and light, a great summer pale ale.

12 oz bottle, date stamped as bottled on 18 June 2013, poured into snifter.

Amber color with a modest cream-colored head. Clear. OK retention and decent lacing on the glass.

Aroma: Dominated by Citra hops. An inviting mix of of tropical fruits – including lemon, pineapple, orange and mango – and sweet malts with notes of grass and pine.

T: Starts off sweet with a fruity (hops) caramel (malt) mix, then a solid blast of fruity hops, with oranges, grapefruit, pineapple, and mangos. Very tasty. Fruity and mildly bitter Citra hop flavors linger on and on afterwards. .

Feel – Medium-light bodied; excellent carbonation level; semi-dry finish.

O: An exceptional APA, with a level of hop aroma and flavor that fit the IPA label, but with lower bitterness than an average IPA. Very fruity and surprisingly complex for a single-hop brew.
