Bright and clear, this one is pretty much a straight amber color. It grows an off-white head that settles to a finger's height without dropping too much further, staying tight and creamy as well as managing some good lacing, in plenty of thick patching.
A nice, bright citra hops nose is offered with a malt addition that serves to balance and allow the hops bill to maintain key status. As such, there's a firm bitterness that's juicy, mild notes of pine and earth allowing tropical fruits to take the forefront.
The bitterness is at a standard level for the style, and it serves well. It's a nice, juicy sort of flavor with a balance from malts that doesn't take away from the hops. Citrus zest, light floral notes, and lemongrass make for good depth and a satisfying complexity.
A medium body that works well and leans light and bright, it might have a little more depth to it overall. It's semi-dry as some leaf pulls some dryness into the middle. Crispness is moderate and steady, as is smoothness.

Big thanks to beersndrums for this one!

12 oz bottle poured into a mug at fridge-cellar temperature.

L – Pale amber color with a 3-finger frothy, foamy, billowing, cream-colored head. Great retention and awesome rings of lacing down the glass. Clear with a moderate amount of bubbles.

S – Grainy and caramel malt aromas with a nice dose of hops with orange, peach, mango, and grass notes. Pretty standard for a darker (more caramel malt) pale ale with Citra hops but pretty nice, too.

T – This is where this beer really takes off. It starts off sweet with caramel malt and a blast of fruit including oranges, peaches, pineapples, and mangos. As the taste continues, bitterness from these fruity hops picks up and takes with it grainy malt and earthy, grassy hop flavors. At the finish, all of the fruit flavors are still there under a blanket of resinous and somewhat spicy hop bitterness. Very tasty.

F – Medium-bodied, good carbonation, a sticky and chewy mouthfeel, and a bittersweet, mildly spicy, and dry finish. Bittersweet fruity Citra hop flavors linger for a fantastic amount of time.

O – This is a great pale ale. In all honesty, it may be creeping closer to an IPA rather than a pale ale, but a lot of beers these days fit that profile. It is loaded with hops but very drinkable at the same time with a smooth, bittersweet flavor rather than a tongue-blistering bitterness that a lot of hoppy beers try to accomplish these days. This is the first beer that I’ve had from Odd Side, and I’d love to try some more. I’ll be looking for them the next time I’m in Michigan. Thanks for the introduction, Jared!

Pours a light, golden orange color with almost no head retention. Leaves a thin ring of lacing. Smell is expected knowing this is exclusively citra. Notes of pineapple, dank tropical fruit, grapefruit, mango, light pine as well as some light grain and carmel. Smell is not very pungent like other citra beers, but still get light notes of all of these. Taste starts with grapefruit, various tropical fruits like papaya. The middle brings a light sweetness, as well as notes of grain. The finish continues the sweet grain notes, as well as more citra hop qualities: more grapefruit, papaya, and lemon. This grain quality is a little too strong and really interferes with the hop qualities that should be a little more pungent in flavor. Almost get a banana like taste in the finish, as well as a metallic flavor. Light body with a creamy and slick mouthfeel. This could be an older bottle, but I am not that impressed with this. The malt bill was a little too much and the citra hop qualities were a little toned down.

Bottle into Tulip

Appearance : Caramel honey colored, Upon swirling in your glass you see the half finger white head bubble into the deep color of the beer, Good lacing

Smell : Grapefruit citrus, pungent sticky goodness

Taste : A citrus combination of orange and heavy grapefruit, coats your tongue with a resiny sticky goodness. Bitterness takes the wheel right after your initial taste settles.

Mouthfeel : Medium carbonation, Light-medium body weighed more towards light for me, Refreshing

Overall : Good Refreshing beer. I will absolutely put this beer in rotation with some of the other regulars. Find one.

A: A slightly hazy yellow-light gold body. Small head forms before quickly deflating to scattered thin foam.

S: Tropical fruits (guava really comes to mind), blood oranges, and grapefruit peel. I'm also picking up just a hint of wet paper.

T: Tropical fruit and sweet malt throughout. A little bit of citrus rind lies in the aftertaste. Quite nice.

M: Fairly light, of course. Finish is a little drying.

O: A very pleasant pale ale, and one I would gladly have again, although I expected a little bit more from my first Citra beer.
