Interesting mix of citra hops with the dark malts of a black IPA. Combination of bitterness and acidity tingle your tongue and taste buds. Citrus dominates the aroma, malts kick in on first taste and linger at the finish. A touch of sweetness mixes in to keep you guessing.

Poured from bottle to IPA glass. Pitch black liquid with a few fingers of khaki head. Plenty of carbonation clings to the glass. Nice aromas, primarily of roast and floral hops that carry through to the flavor. There's also citrus notes/coffee and dark cocoa. Wonderful black ale.

Poured from a bottle into a tulip glass. Nice dark brown color with nice head and lacing. Nicely fragrant with fruit and floral smell. Dark toast with citrus and pine tastes a very nice beer.

The beer comes in a dark brown color with a light brown head.
On a 4 month bottle, the hops may have faded a bit, but the balance still stands up. A clean malt quality, without the cocoa chocolate and light coffee roasted overtaking and triggering the creamy and residual sweetness of a porter/stout. Onto a bit of spice, and lingering black coffee flavor.

Had a growler of this a few years back. From my notes:
Brown/black hue.
Khaki head; strong lace.
Orange citrus nose, with a hint of coffee.
Medium mouthfeel.
Nice mix of citrus & coffee; when cold the orange shines, as it warms the coffee shines. Complex & flavorful.

Black, though not opaque, body with a half-inch of mocha colored head. Aromas include pine, orange zest, resinous hops. Chocolate and piney hops flavor. Light to medium in body with moderate bitterness. I enjoyed this.
