Pours into a standard pint glass a dull golden with a thinner white head that lasts for awhile leaving a thin ring of lace behind.Aromas of pine and grapefruit with not much sweetness detected,a lighter crips malt base. One of the better flavor profiles of the style I have had to date, leafy and piney with more citric notes giving off a nice hop profile, lightly toasted grain with minimal sweetness rounds out the palate.Iam not a huge fan of the style,I guess I like getting hammered over the head with hops and bigger sweet malt bases but I do think this is a good representation of the style.

Thanks to Kevin for tossing me a bottle of this stuff. It pours bright, golden-yellow color that definitely lets light pass through, but it's hazy enough to obscure anything on the other side of the glass. The white, foamy cap is big-bubbled and settles rather quickly into a half-assed skin that sits lazily on top of the brew. Only a little bit of lacing is left behind.

Simcoe Sensation delivers everything the name promises - a whole lot of Simcoe hops, straight to the dome. Intense pine needles and florals, with an underlying woodsy and earthy spice. Secondary are the citrus aromas; very mild grapefruit and maybe even a touch of apricot. Lightly sweet from the pale malts, although maybe I'm confusing that a bit with the fruity aspect of the Simcoe hops. Smells like it's gonna be bitter.

Whew! The first sip really has me taken back - this brew is quite powerful for being only 4.5% ABV. Like a straight-up mouth full of Simcoe hops - heavy, heavy pine needles, resin, white pepper, spicy and earthy beyond belief with a staunch bitterness that traverses the entire profile. It tastes like a Christmas tree covered in floral perfume.

The hops certainly kick my ass in this one, as the palate shows almost no mention of malts at all. Maybe in the very end, the most masterful palates could pick up some light biscuit or bready notes, but they're most certainly dominated by the onslaught of Simcoe. The mouth feel is pretty thin and rather wet; juicy, oily, and slick with a decent amount of carbonation. The finish really isn't that dry, although the lasting bitterness of the hops can make it seem that way.

This baby is pretty explosive for a sessionable-level brew. I guess that's what happens when you go hop-crazy with nothing but Simcoe. Very good for the bitter freaks who love the tongue scraping pines and resins. It was a tasty beer, but I can see the sheer abruptness of the hops growing old after one bottle. Still not a disappointment though, as I really had no expectations going into this one.

Thanks to thewimperoo for sharing this one!

Murky pale orange, frothy soapy foam that laces nicely with a long lasting head that has persistent surface coverage.

Malty undercurrent with some citrus rind bitterness, grapefruit zest.

Firmly bitter taste, very hoppy with more citrus peel, medium bodied, ample carbonation. Earthy and leafy green hop character, very resiny. Drinkable, though I'd like to try it fresh on tap someday to compare.

12 FL. OZ. bottle
Served in a perfect pint glass

A - It is light amber/gold in color with pale yellow highlights. It is topped with an inch of off-white head.

S - It has a floral and citrus aroma. It is pleasing.

T - At first I thought it lacked flavor. Now that it has warmed a little, I am getting some mild citrus with a pine finish. The flavors are subtle.

M - Moderate.

O - I wasn't expecting much and was pleasantly surprised. The subtle citrus and pine flavors and quite enjoyable. It is a good session beer.
