Had this at Hopcat in Grand Rapids. Pours a dark golden color with some orange running through it, almost no head on top, we're talking like 1/8" range, off white. Aroma was a little bit of barrel, bourbon and citra hops, although it was mild, perhaps they counter act each other a little.
Taste, relatively smooth, definitely not bitter. Not boozy either. I like the caramel from two sources (malt/barrel) kind of vibe going on. I don't think I like it more than the base version, but its neat little relatively affordable foray into the world of citra hops and bourbon barrels, you don't come across that every day.

Sweet, warm bourbon in orange juice. I love plain old Citra and find it absolutely refreshing. This version adds the boozy warmth of bourbon to the mix. Does it make it an improvement? Not necessarily, in my opinion. While it's a decent brew in it's own right, labeling it a BBA version of Citra invites comparison to the original. What this version adds (besides booze) is a honeyed smell and feel. I'm one-and-done with this one, but I'll never give up plain old Citra.
