Thanks to @foundersasap for sending me this in our NBS BIF #9.
Pours a deep, dark (almost black) brown with an active tan cap that rises nearly 2 fingers in vertical before settling to a respectable 1/2 inch. Good retention, light lacing.
Smell is a nuanced palette of creamy chocolate, subtle roasted malts, coffee, and a gentle kiss of mint. I really like how smoothly the aromas ebb and flow. Also, the understated notes of mint are quite nice, I get scared off with prominent mint.
Flavor is a little more roast forward. Malt and coffee begin and stay dominant throughout. The mint, again subtle, comes through but is not the star.
Mouthfeel is on the lighter side medium and no alcohol heat to speak of. Carbonation is minimal.
Overall, I give points for not being too strong with the mint, however the flavor does not quite follow what the nose advertises, and it's a tad thin for style. Pretty good. I'd love to try this one on tap.

Bottled 12/1/16; drank 3/20/17 @ the Palace.
Black/brown appearance.
A rough pour yielded a nice, noisy khaki head; minimal lace.
Peppermint, milk chocolate & faint black coffee notes in the nose; this smelled like a Thin Mint.
Medium thick, creamy mouthfeel.
Peppermint & dark chocolate flavors up front; black coffee & faint hop bite notes on the finish.
Drinkable but not one to seek out, unless you're a Thin Mint fanatic.

A very interesting beer - and one that I'd been looking forward to try for a while. I always respect this local brewery's offerings and they constantly seem to develop new, interesting, exciting new beer flavor profiles. This one started off looking great - very dark brown, almost black color with some nice tan head and spotty lingering lacing. Smells absolutely wonderful - deep dark rich chocolate brownie, peppermint, some lighter medium roast coffee, roasted nuttiness, vanilla and caramel. Taste follows the nose, except that as the beer warmed the sweetness faded and the bitter notes - maybe the astringent nature of the tea? - came through more. Not totally unpleasant, just not as sweet and balanced as I had previously enjoyed. Smooth, slightly creamy and moderately thick, rich mouthfeel with decent carbonation. I would have rated it higher had those sweet notes lingered and if the flavors had possessed just a little more complexity or depth - but maybe this would be more in line with an imperial stout. Either way, I enjoyed it.

This beer pours a dark black with a large mocha head. The aroma starts with a very strong peppermint note, followed by sweet milk chocolate, and a bit of cream. The flavor is much less sweet than I expected, starting with hearty peppermint, followed by cocoa powder, dark chocolate, and mild coffee. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with frothy carbonation. overall a nice beer - not overly sweet, and more stout that flavor, the mint is well integrated,

Aroma is mint/chocolate chip, dark malts and spices. The flavor is mint, dark malts, chocolate, mild fruit and a tart/acidic/slightly sour/sweet finish.

Bottled on 11/22/17. 12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours black with lots of sediment floating to the bottom; creamy khaki head that falls leaving nice retention and and decent lacing. The aromas smell like exactly like a "Thin Mint cookie". Mint leads the way along with some chocolate. The flavors follow the nose for the most part. They use peppermint tea, and the tea aspects really come through in the flavor department. More chocolate and cocoa in the mix. The coffee is mild and subtle in the aromas and flavors. Malts do their thing. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with active carbonation. It's smooth.
This is a nice stout. The peppermint tea makes this one unique. The coffee is probably there, but gets lost in the sauce. It's not something that I could personally drink alot of, but one is perfect. I like it.

I was having a hard time getting into the mood to drink and review this stout. I have been a pretty good fan of Odd Side Ales, but I couldn't find the right time to drink this one. That includes now. Maybe that's the negative twist on this. Since it delivers what the name says (java, chip, mint in a stout) you think, "Man, that's a lot of flavors." But now I need to man up to it and drink it like a professional.
It's dark with fine little head. The aroma properly advertises what's coming in the taste - a big ass minty, coco, stout. Excellent blend of these complimentary tastes. The finish is weak.
Highly recommended.
