This brewery is most easily found by parking in the lot on the west side of the building and going into the building's central hallway thru an entrance on the side of the building, or going in thru the N. 1st Street door where the brewery's patio is located. There are only small signs on the doors to identify the brewery.

The inside is set up like a bohemian cafe... very artsy with modern paintings, drawings, and photography on the wall. Sitting arrangements range from wood chairs and tables to leather upholstered comfy chairs with contemporary tables. When I was there, there was a two piece band playing a wide range of music from indie to top forty and they were decent.

I hade quite a few beers here, as did my wife, and found them all to be very good. I tried an amarillo IPA, black IPA, and a hazelnut coffee stout. My wife had the apple wit and rasperry wheat. All were very good.

The bartenders were extremely helpful and knowledgable about the beer. I even had a pretty long conversation with one about why they weren't bottling, local laws and hurdles, and plans for future expansion. She was insightful about the beer and more than happy to pour samples. The owner or brewmaster was out and about answering questions and engaging in beer banter with locals and out-of-towners. They seemed to truely enjoy every bit of their craft.

There were about 8 beers on tap of a wide array. It was a diverse selection of beers. Nothing aside from their own beer is served here.

No food but chips and seeds served here and I didn't try any.

Beer was very reasonably priced. Overall, I very much enjoyed this place and would go back. I'd be excited if they were ever to distribute.

I made my first visit to Odd Side Ales on Black Friday 2014 for their Hipster Brunch Stout and Morning Wood Stout release. They opened at 9:00AM. Odd Side's location is in an old refurbished warehouse (I think) on the first floor. They ran their new beer release very efficiently. Patrons were encouraged to bring their own breakfast with them that particular day and I think about half the people did.

I was a little surprised at how small their taproom was although I guess I shouldn't be seeing how they have only been in business since 2010. All of their seating filled rather quickly that morning. They have a variety of seating and tables in their taproom. As we waited for them to open their doors that day, they received a table top Pacman game and one of those table top hockey games in the big plastic bubble. I personally love that hockey game but no one was playing it that day.

Odd Side hit it out of the park that day with the release of Hipster Brunch Stout and Morning Wood Stout. Those were both 20 oz. pours for $6. They had about 15 other beers on their taplist that day including BBA Imperial Mayan Mocha Stout and a peanut butter stout that looked very enticing to me. But Black Friday was all about Hipster and Morning Wood.

Odd Side continues to step up their game in the state of Michigan. Their beers are becoming more and more visible in bottle shops. The biggest hit that I can give Odd Side for my rating is their smaller taproom space. As they continue to grow, I'm sure they will address this issue. I'm guessing their existing space is the right size for them most of the time. But a special event for them like their Black Friday release will challenge the comfort of their patrons. I will definitely go back again.

Been here multiple times with my wife and friends. So the brewpub is nothing that will blow you away, in fact it's quite boring looking. What's great about Odd Side Ales is the beer. These guys are IMO on their way to supplanting Founders and Bells as the best West MI brewery when it comes to quality, world class brews. There ability to use their creativity in a controlled and tasteful way is what is starting to really make them stand out, that and improving on already great brews. Case in point they took a great beer BA Mayan Mocha stout and upped the anti by making an imperial version of it this year.

Odd Sides is a great brewery in the heart of downtown Grand Haven. While they have expanded their operation off-site, their quality, excellent staff, and reputation has continued to grow. Their beer is about as adventurous as it gets. With names ranging from Jackalope to Bean Flicker, you can always count on something unique and delicious on tap. In addition, they have a mug club that features mugs that you can hand paint yourself! The price is right, the beer is great, the atmosphere is fun, and the wait staff is super friendly and knowledgeable.

Odd sides was on my radar after my first visit to Grand Rapids in 2013 after having a few of there beers in bottles (Citra Pale Ale, Mocha Stout). By car the commute was about 30 minutes from Grand Rapids proper and had some picturesque scenery along the way. The brewery/tap room is located just of the waterfront of Lake Michigan inside a shopping center. It took a few turns around the block to find it (since I wasn't expecting it to be in a shopping area) but when I finally did there were plenty of seats available on this Friday afternoon.

A: The taproom had a large wood bar the full length of the place on one side with a half wall behind it cutting off the table and chairs area. The decor had kind of a surfy vibe and with few people in the place a very open airy atmosphere.

S: When I sat down, two of the staff members where at the bar next to me (drinking) and chatting while the bar tender poured a flight of beers for another patron. I chatted with them a bit and decided to do a flight also (5 4oz pours if I recall correctly.). The beers came quickly and in a newly created stave/glass holder.

S: When I was there they had over a dozen (possibly 18?) different beers available. Anything from the main stays (CPA, Bean Flicker) to some wacky stuff in barrels and a lager. The hoppy beers where fresh with no signs of off flavors and the barrel aged stouts where chocolatly with a hefty oak presence. My only qualm was those two flavors seem to define all of their beers. IE have a citra pale ale and have a mocha stout and you have a good sense of all of their beers. Maybe its a house yeast character (not sure) and not saying its bad, because I did enjoy it, but I like more variety in flavor profiles.

V/O: In all, Odd Sides was well priced and a cool little spot. I didn't get to see the actual brewing equipment which I typically like to do. But if you want to take a short drive outside of Grand Rapids and be close to the shores of Lake Michigan with some nice beers and a cool atmosphere, go check it out.
