This is you classic old school, dimly lit Irish pub. Do not come here for craft beer. If you are looking for a pint of Guinness or Harp and a reasonably priced meal in Atlantic City this is your place. The wings are very good, the rest of the food we had (burgers, chicken sandwich, fish and chips) were all good. The service is friendly and attentive.

Not even close to a craft beer bar, this is an experience. Any time of day, literally, you can go sit down in a very welcoming environment and have a Guinness or what ever else they have flowing. The prices are very reasonable and the food is good, classic bar food. No frills, just plenty of good times to be had. I've been going here since the mid-1990's and never had a bad time (besides having to carry friends out to a cab...). My "Service" rating is that high since my crowd typically tips very well, so I suggest doing the same since beers are on the cheap side here especially compared to NYC price levels.

It was on a side street, and kind of out of the way. I walked in through a gift shop. Low ceilings and you can tell it is the real deal. Old posters on the wall, warn tables, chairs, and bar. The standard Irish beers, Stella, Sam Adams on tap. The bartender was a bit stern, but it is understandable. They never close, they tend to get folks that come in at three o'clock that are already drunk. Standard bar food, good, but nothing outstanding. They are cash only, which is always a pain. Decent place, nonetheless.

My first official visit to the Atlantic City boardwalk saw me and my co-worker searching for a good place to eat after a long day in the conference halls. As we traipsed down the wooden planks, a guy wobbling around in a sandwich-board display caught my attention with some tasty-sounding meals scrawled on the front of his poster. A suggestion was made, a decision agreed upon and off we went to the Irish Pub right down the street.

It's a cozy little place with subdued lighting and a low ceiling, creating an intimate feel. We were directed to our seats by a pleasant hostess and attended to by a very nice waitress who was attentive and perky. The food selection is as you would expect from an establishment called "The Irish Pub". Lots of Irish fare, from corned beef and cabbage to shepherd's pie to cod and chips. The hot open-faced beef sandwich I had was very good and my counterpart enjoyed her breaded shrimp and chips.

Beer selection is, unfortunately, standard macro fare. Still, really can't beat getting a pint of Guinness for $2, so I'm not complaining that much. Helped that the food was also so cheap that we were able to have an appetizer, two full course and two glasses of beer each for $40 total. Hard to knock that.

We both liked it so much we went back to grab some grub there again before we left Atlantic City. Cheap, good food with a nice intimate feel and is open 24-hours? We only managed to go there twice, but now that we know it's there, repeat AC visits will definitely feature this place more.

I was looking at other places in A.C. and seen this one as well I was very surprised BA would have this. My wife and I went here about 1:00 in the morning after the penguins just won the stanley cup. I was looking for something different and yawn nothing I ended up having a bass ale. That seemed to be the only craft or different type of beer on tap. A small little place indeed that kind of smelled funny as well. I did think it was a cool looking little pub it seemed like it was in a basement. Our bartender was quick to make chat and was right on top with refilling.Just a typical bar with very little on tap or taps period.

The Irish Pub in Atlantic City is a must stop for anyone that enjoys going to a bar. If you're reading this, you like bars so stop in. Off the beaten path, this is a landmark in AC. Nice and dark, you'll always find someone in this place, open 24hrs a day!! The beer selection is ok with the standard macros. Food is dirt cheap and tasty. Bar and table service is quick and no nonsense. My only problem is you have no clue what time it is in this place. If you go in for a day session, don't be surprised if it turns into an all-nighter.

While with a few friends for a little gambling in a.c., stopped by this pub which was recommended to us by a couple who frequented the area often... can't say I was too impressed... very hometown feel that seemed to include a lot of regulars and old timers... small selection with not much too choose from, either by way of drink or food... was a bit pricey, but I guess you can expect that when you're down in a tourist spot like atlantic city... service was about average, but nothing to write home about... i'm sure there are much better places to stop at if you're in the area...

I've been to the Pub a handful of times and can honestly say I'm surprised that it's listed here on BA.

Whilst the atmosphere is nice (there's a definite locals/homey vibe to it along with a bit of fun rowdiness at times later in the evening) the beer selection is far from worthy. Off of the top of my head, they've got Guinness, Sam Adams, Sam Seasonal, Bass, Yuengling, Coors Light, Blue Moon, Killian's, etc., i.e. nothing to write home about.

A problem I've noticed (especially in the summer) is that the beers outside are not always what they say on the tap: A Sam Adams might be the Sam Seasonal, a Coors Light might be Blue Moon.

Service is friendly and prompt, but they don't have much to worry about in terms of beer knowledge as there's not much of anything available craft-wise.

Overall, the flaws and minuscule selection aside, this is a fun place to visit and prices are very accommodating to your wallet. I'm sure I'll be back again, just not for the beer selection.

As most of the reviews point out, this place has excellent atmosphere. It's interior is very warm and friendly and the bar has the vibe where you could spend a whole night just hanging out there. Low ceilings and dark wood with old photographs and some breweriana on the walls. I didn't try the food.
The beer selection was average at best. Your typical Irish Pub selection; Guiness, Harp etc. . .
I tried their Victory Anniversary Ale which the bartender said was brewed by Victory Beverage Co. (?) I asked him if that was Victory Brewing in Downingtown, PA and he was just kind of vague. It was okay.
Overall, this would be a great place if it had a better beer selection, but it doesn't.

Even though I've heard that the Irish Pub was an Atlantic City landmark, I never really thought about going there. I wouldn't have even noticed it if there wasn't a guy on the boardwalk wearing a sandwichboard sign pointing in its direction (just off the boardwalk). I decided to check it out, and I must say that this is probably THE bargain in all of AC.

The atmosphere is top-notch. It feels like an old-world watering hole. There are pictures and memorabilia of famous Irishmen and Irish-Americans all over the place. The interior is a bit dark, but it just feels cozy inside.

The beer selection is nothing to write home about. Guinness, Yuengling, Murphy's, Bass, Harp, and some of the usual macros here. Bottled beer is $2.25, domestic mugs are a dollar with pints going for $1.90, and the imports vary but aren't too much more.

The food portions are reasonably sized and taste good, but what got me was the price. The most expensive thing on the menu was scallops for $7.50. Burgers were about $2, and most of the items were in the $3 to $6 range. Sandwiches and finger foods made up most of the menu. A great place to chow up if you're in AC.

I make several trips to AC during the year. Depending on which end of the boardwalk we're spending our cash, I hit either this place or Firewaters. More of a local-filled corner dive bar that happens to be near the beach and casinos than what one would define as a beer bar.

You won't be wowed by the taplist and there won't be beer knowledgable or cute waitresses, but you'll have affordable Yuengling and Guiness. When we would drive to AC after too many drinks in college, the Irish bar would get the bulk of our business.

It would make me feel low-brow if I was drunkenly cursing the person who pulled a three of a kind on the river to take my nice 2-pair if I was at Firewaters. It seems perfectly well suited for this joint.

Visited establishment: Saturday Dec. 3, 2005 11:45 PM (after concert & gambling at the Borgata)

**Easily found by spotting their Christmas decorations (nice touch).

When I stepped into the Irish Pub I immediately felt transported out of Atlantic City. The ceilings are low and the decor is good old days gone-by Irish charm. The bar is a bit worn but welcoming and warm. The friendly clientele varied in age (mid/late-20's to 50+) but most between 32 and 45. The Pub is very much smoker friendly. The bar staff was attentive and knew their work environment. Although there is no real neighborhood, the Irish Pub had a neighborhood/after work feel to it. It is located a stones throw from the boardwalk and in the summer it does have out door seating w/ views of the ocean. Free parking for patrons was available just across the street. Beer and food selections were fair to average.

Overall a friendly, welcoming Pub that I might visit some day again but hoping it will always be there.

My girlfriend and I just got back from a New Years Eve trip to AC. I heard of the Pub on here prior to leaving so I knew I would have to stop in once - what ended up happening was we went 3 times for meals. We got to know the workers and were warmly greeted on our return.

We both had Guinness all 3 times so selection was a SLIGHT issue as thier website said they had Murphys on tap but in actuallity did not. Oh well, had some VERY fresh Guinness and a few meals such as corn beef, chicken parm and crab cakes.

Overall a GREAT place and a MUST go to for anyone who is in the city and wants a break from the glitz and glam.

What can I say, this bar kicks some serious ass. Great beers on tap including the freshest Guinness I've ever had. They also have Harp on tap and they make one mean Half & Half. Food was wonderful too and the prices were incredible, $1.90 pints or $2 soup and sandwich specials for lunch! The atmosphere was second to none, mellow and low key, feels like your in somebody's home more than a bar. Service was not up to par but I think our waitress was PMSing. Hands down my favorite stop in Atlantic City.

I felt very comfortable in this pub. There is always an interesting mix of casino employees, including the dancers :) , as well as older folks. The mix of people is great and they all enjoy themselves very much. On tap was Guinness, Harp, Coors Light, and Yuengling Lager. The Harp was wonderful, so much smoother than the bottle. They took their time for their version of the perfect Guinness pour. And the Guinness was very tasty, but came only in 12 ounce glasses, the same glass that every other beer is served in. I found that very disappointing, although the Guinness was some of the best on tap I have had in this country.
The food is typical bar fare, and prices aren't too bad at all.

This is a great place to go while gambling in Atlantic City. The prices are modest in case you lost. :)

Due to it's being located a block off of the A.C. boardwalk, this place is usually packed. Food is just slightly above average...but dirt cheap! The beer selection is Guinness, sometimes Murphy's stout, Bass ale, and Yuengling B&T all on tap last time I was there, with the usual bottled macros. Pints are also dirt cheap...and always super fresh, largely to the fast turnover. The atmosphere is a bit rowdy & loud, especially on the weekends...but if you go to A.C., you have to go at least once!
