poured from bottle into snifter

A: Pours very dark brown, almost black, with a thick tan head

S: Sweet chocolate and vanilla.

T: Chocolate and malt really coat the taste buds. Vanilla comes through. This is really a sweet drinker with a lot of desert.

M: Lighter for a stout and a very nice creamy mouthfeel.

Overall: This is a great beer if you like a lighter body stout, but with a good creamy mouthfeel. Excellent beer.

When you see a dark khaki-colored, creamy and frothy head over midnight black body like this, you appreciate the importance of appearance in a beer. This is gorgeous. 5

Deeply sweet and caramel-like. Dark chocolate in front of some sweet floral hop aroma. The vanilla notes are potent. This smells like a tasty dessert. 4.25

The flavor here does not disappoint. Chocolate makes its mark all over this, dark but sweet with notes of vanilla at the front, and dry, roasty baker's chocolate that lingers on the finish. There are so many flavors layered in this, caramel, resinous hops, graham crackers, it's again, a dessert. 4.5

Flavor didn't disappoint. Feel doesn't either. Sweet, creamy and viscous almost throughout before the finish closes with prickly carbonation and a biting, bitter finish. 4.25

Damn this was impressive. Is word out on this brew? It should be.

22 Ounce Bottle from BevMo

Poured into pint glass

A - Pours pitch black with thinner creamy tan head.

S - Dark toasty/roasty malt smell with coffee, chocolate and maybe even a little peanut butter. I know it's stretch but it's there.

T- Strong coffee and chocolate forward stout. Very strong typical of an imperial but not too boozy. 8.7 ABV. Don't want to chug this. It's for savoring and has a nice long warm finish.

M- Thick and substantive.

O- This is a good imperial stout. I usually favor "regular" stouts over imperials because they are too boozy this may be my favorite imperial stout. Good beer.
