Pours opaque black with cola edges. The 1/2 inch tan head fades to a thin ring on top and leaves spots of lace.

The smell is of peanut butter, dark chocolate and roasted dark malt.

The taste is of grainy dark malt, peanut butter and dark chocolate with a slightly bitter hop finish.

The texture is medium bodied with high carbonation.

Pleasant peanut butter and dark chocolate flavor. A thicker mouthfeel would elevate this beer to greatness.

This is the Sin Tax Imperial PB stout. The bartender presented it as a peanut butter milk stout, which it is not - it is too bitter and not smooth enough to be a milk stout.

Almost no head nor lacing, maybe due to the plain pint glass.

Smells of strong candi, Cocoa, caramel, and a hint of peanuts and roasted malts.

Tastes of reasted coffee, caramel, and really hoppy.

The beer is medium to full bodied, and is right on the edge of the regular-to-imperial stout classification, with 8.1%abv.

Strong carbonation, and almost drinkable if it want for the over-hopped character.

Consumed June 9th, 2014 at The Tipsy Cow, Sherman Oaks, CA.

Beer is a deep dark brown (almost black). A two-finger foamy off-white/light tan head sticks around for a while and provides adequate lacing.

Aroma is chocolate milk and vanilla. Yummy!

Flavor is reminiscent of malted milk. Some vanilla and mild coffee notes as well. Sneaking bitterness creeps in at the end, providing a nice finish to this agreeable beer.

Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with proper carbonation. Surprised by the ABV; I never would have guessed it so high.

This was a nice surprise, especially considering my previous encounters with Mother Earth beers have been less than a delight.

Pours quickly from the bottle, cola brown and black with highlights of earth in the glass. Half finger off white cap had good retention and clingy tendrils of lace indicating this might still have some hops and bite.

Light aroma of cocoa powder, caramel malt and bready grains. Some depth added by a note or two of lactose, cream soda and peanut butter. Hops are prevalent with an earthy and grassy aroma, mild alcohol rises from the glass.

Malts are dark and dominated by raw cocoa, caramel and charred grains, a bit of peanut butter and vanilla extract. Lacks the integrated sweetness of the dark malt. Overdose on bitterness that I can't tell if it's coming from the burnt grains or metallic and herbal hops, quite herbal on the finish too.

Thin imperial stout, mild carbonation keeps te thin malt flat on the palate. High bitterness leads to a very clean and dry finish but I would easily trade it for more sweetness in the malt.

Form a brewery that makes so many IPAs I guess it's no surprise that their stout would be largely hoppy as well. My take of this stout is that it is shallow and fails to engage the depth of the malt. More coffee and sweet chocolate or toffee would have been great with the nuances of vanilla and peanut butter.
