Huge four finger head, mocha and foamy. Opaque inky with good retention is never less than two fingers with sticky lace. Smells of espresso, burnt coffee. Strong coffee bean taste with mild astringency, toasted malt impressions. There is a long finish but it'snot particularly pleasing, for some reason this doesn't seem to sit as well as it should. Body is pretty substantial, heavy on the palette without offering quite enough in the way of flavour. Overall, this has some good things going for it but has a dinstincly sour aftertaste that compromises the finsh.

A nice solid and Roasty stout. Medium carb with a lighter mouthfeel. It's nothing crazy but it doesn't have to be. This is just a nice well done stout. Glad I received it in a trade.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 10/8/2014. Pours nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, light smoke/char, herbal, and roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of roast/bready malt and moderate earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, light smoke/char, herbal, and roasted earthiness. Good amount of herbal/roast/charred bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, light smoke/char, and herbal/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of roast/bready malt and moderate earthy hop flavors; with a good roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice American stout style. All around good complexity, balance, and robustness of roast/bready malt and moderate earthy hop flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering. Very big on flavor for the ABV.

Way too much carbonation for my taste. Will not be purchasing this one again...

This one is quite a dark brown, but it does let some light in. It seems to have a pretty firm body that falls within style. The head is a tight sandy cap about half a finger high with greater than average retention and lace.
Malts are firm in the nose, a light roastiness with some sweeter notes and some dark fruits in the end. There's something a little drier but still meaty in the middle, almost like walnut. There's a bit of milk chocolate leaning toward bittersweet with some char into the end. In the flavor, it goes a little light for a stout, but it works pretty well.
The body isn't as full or robust as it could be but it isn't terribly weak either. It hits the bigger end of medium, though it lets up a little at the end, and I might take just a touch of crispness off of this one.
