Approach with caution. This one will sneak up on you! Brewed to keep us warm in the winter months, but easily enjoyable any time of the year. Syrup and honey give this beer an irresistible sweetness that makes it impossible to have just one. No matter what you pair this one with make sure you get plenty to eat or you might find out how this beer got its name.

It pours dark amber, but settles into a lighter amber hue with minimal tan-white head and lacing. The smell is hard to pin down, but I notice predominately malt, floral notes, pine, and honey. The taste is similar to the smell: with malt, floral notes, hops, and a bit of sweetness coming through. The feel is boozy and warming. I agree with other reviewers that the maple taste isn't pronounced. The honey comes through in the taste and the smell, at least to me. Overall, it was a good find for the affordable price.
Cheers

Fairly nice red ale from a local brewery that’s new to me. Pours a red-amber color with just a little mild white head and very minimal spotty lingering lacing. Smells of some malt, roasted nuts, caramel and muddled faint hops. Tastes similarly, with just a small hit of hoppy bitterness at the finish. I couldn’t really detect the maple syrup or honey sweetness. Mild, thin mouthfeel and decent carbonation that tended to fade as the beer warmed. A fair amount of warming alcohol. A decent offering.

I don’t understand the poor ratings. Thought it was a solid beer. Malty, nice solid flavor. Almost, but not quite like a wee heavy or Scottish ale, but a little higher in alcohol. Had on draft on a business trip to Michigan. High alcohol content will sneak up on you, though.
