Picked this up in Totowa since I've never had it before and I wanted to give this a whirl. This wasn't as highly rated as other Stouts on here but I wanted to give it a whirl to see if that was really the case or not. I understand that this is a new brewery but after downing a few of these, it's apparent that there's still some work to be done.
This had a typical pour to it for something of this type - dark, a somewhat frothy head, and no lacing to be found. What struck me about this beer was how thin it was in both the mouthfeel and taste. There was quite a bit of carbonation to this and it didn't seem like "motor oil" in the least. Rather, it felt like a soda with a bit of cherry and raspberry mixed in with the milk chocolate flavor. No stickiness here, but it went down like soda with only the carbonation lingering in the aftertaste.
New to Stouts? This is where to begin. The 6.60% ABV can hardly be felt and it's even possible to down quite a few in a sitting. I've never had a beer of this style that wasn't crafted well or that I couldn't finish but when it comes to Stouts, this falls on the lower end of the scale. This fit in well with the leftover Halloween candy that I had at my house and at the same time, I feel that there's a lot of potential here in future years!

Based on notes from 2013. Had this from a firkin.
A: pours dark brown/black body with no real head and minimal lacing
S: smells like sweet rum with some hints of roasted notes; some dark chocolate notes
T: sweet taste; tastes like one of those chocolates with rum in it; sweet, roasted aftertaste
M: light bodied and pretty smooth; decent overall; somewhat silky smooth
D: nice mouthfeel and taste combo; pretty solid drinking beer, overall; mouthfeel was a little thin

Strong aroma of dried raisins and dried plums followed by some malt and chocolate. Taste was very similar, raisins dominates but could still pick up some malt and chocolate
Carbonation was too strong and took away overall but it did get better as it sat a while. Overall it was a decent stout

AROMA: Coffee
LOOK: Dark Black color. Medium Tan head.
TASTE: nothing special jumps out, toasted barley, small touches of coca, coffee.
FEEL: Thin for a stout.
Good flavor and enjoyable.
Rates well, but low on the totem pole for Stouts though.

Overall I wasn't a huge fan of this one. Some roasted malts, chocolate, and light cream, but over carbonated and just a bit bland. Wouldn't seek it out again.

6/6...pours dark brown bordering on black. Minimal foam. Roasted coffee nose. Taste is a firm coffee bean stout with an embedded dark fruit/raisin background. Sweetness pokes through right in the back. Virtually no carbonation, very smooth.
