This was my favorite of the three initial offerings put out by this newbie brewery. Poured black, with a finger of tan-colored head, decent retention, and good lacing. Big roasted coffee and dark chocolate presence in the nose; very pleasant to the point where I'd buy it as an air freshener for my car. However the flavor, while not bad by any means, didn't seem as robust as the nose. It started off on a bittersweet chocolate note, and finished on semi-dry coffee note, with a surprisingly thinner than expected body overall. The latter definitely helps out the beer's sessionability, but a tad fuller on the body would make this a tremendous beer. Good job, guys, and keep at it!

Deep deep brown with a deep tan head that dissipates over time. lots of chocolate on the nose, some coffee, big roast character, some charcoal and asphalt.

Full bodied but the bright carbonation makes it feel lighter in the mouth. Some roasted barley flavor up front roll into big rich chocolate flavor with some touches of coffee and roasted grains. Finishes with just enough bitterness to balance, some acrid flavors but nothing too off. Slightly tinny on the finish as well. Finishes with some lingering tannins and an overall chocolate flavor. Mild bitterness lingers as well. Overall pretty good.

Served on-tap at Little Town NJ in Hoboken, NJ

A: Pours an opaque but clear jet black in color with light amounts of visible carbonation and some cola brown highlights. The beer has a finger tall foamy tan head that slowly reduces to a thin film covering the majority of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of dark roasted malts with some lighter notes of dark chocolate.

T: Light to moderate flavors of dark roasted malts with some very light notes of dark chocolate. Light to moderate amounts of lingering bitterness.

M: Medium bodied with just shy of moderate amounts of carbonation. Relatively smooth.

O: Easy to drink and relatively smooth but the overall flavors and aromas are a touch light for my personal preference. Would likely pair very well with a lot of different foods since it is rather light.

A - Black pout with an active brown foam head. Decent lacing on the glass, and the 1" head retained well.

S - Scents of cocoa powder and dark malt. A bit of pumpernickel bread is noted; slight spicy note.

T - Flavor is rich and malty like Ovaltine. Has a milk chocolate sweetness. This is a rich stout.

M - Rich body with a heavy feel. Residual sugars linger.

O - A decent stout that would appeal to those with a sweet tooth. I'd try this again. Pair this with a good burger or pastrami sandwich.
