Appearance is nice light amber. Good head/lacing.

Smell is nice yummy caramel malt and herbal, US-style hops.

Taste is similar. Herbal hops, caramel malt. Exactly how you do a decent US-style DIPA.

Mouthfeel is equal parts sweet/bitter.

Exactly what you expect in an (East Coast) US-style DIPA. No more, no less.

On tap at Newhall Refinery in Newhall, CA.

Pours a murky orange with a foamy tan head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, earth, citrus fruit, and citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest and floral flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of hop and earthy bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with a nice mixture of citrus, floral, and earthy hop qualities.

Pours into an impy nonic a dull chill hazed burnt orange with a foamy half finger white head atop.Grilled tropical fruits with all their sugars coming out in the nose, alot of good fruity sweetness with only mild bitterness, caramel toffee and mild sweet alcohol round out the nose.More tropical fruit sweetness on the palate with light herbalness as well from the hops,a hefty sweet caramel malt base is there as well making for a sweeter palate, the alcohol becomes more prevelant as it warms.A big juicy DIPA,the NZ hops bring alot of tropical flavors with them.Solid.

A: 1/4" cream colored head over a cloudy deep reddish-amber liquid.

S: Tropical fruit, candy, mango, guava, red licorice.

T: Mango, guava, passionfruit, prickly pear nectar, and lemon peel over a biscuit and caramel malt backbone.

M: Medium to thick viscosity and a medium level of fine carbonation.

O: Quite bitter but very pleasing offering from 8 wired that is full of tropical fruit flavour.

A: Pours a relatively clear deep burnt orange in color with light amounts of visible carbonation near the edges of the glass and some amber highlights. The beer has a half finger tall foamy light beige head that quickly reduces to a small patch of very thin film and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Minimal amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of citrus/grapefruit pith hops and light aromas of pine and spicy hops as well as some light hints of caramel malts.

T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of caramel malts with a light to moderate amount of sweetness followed by the much stronger flavors of the hops - in this case, the hops start out with citrus/grapefruit pith, pine, and spicy in descending order of strength. Moderate amounts of bitterness which fades pretty quickly.

M: Slightly heavier than medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly creamy with light to moderate amounts of dryness in the finish.

O: Overall the alcohol is pretty well hidden in this brew and it is relatively easy to drink - I wish I could have gotten my hands on this when it was super fresh but it has stood up pretty well.

Pale amber with puffy ecru head that trails.
Lots of pineapple with mango and candied tangerine on the nose.
Caramel, toasted hazelnut and apricot Danish with pine sap, resin, and Seville orange hops.
Sugared pink grapefruit finish and drying bitter orange rind and pine needle linger.
Medium, good chew, round, oily, a bit of heat.

Nose jumps out before the pour even finishes but there's a big contrast between a light, fruity aroma and heavy, dank hopping with significant IBUs and a serious malt backbone. Only the lightening tart citrus finish, almost Lagunitas-like, keeps it from cloying and provides much-needed complexity. US hops in there outweigh the NZ hops - I miss the sweeter tropical fruit. I'd prefer Hop Wired.

Attracts fruit flies right away, if that tells you anything.

I got this bottle for my 40th! As with most DIPAs there usually is a fine balance between sweet malt and bitter hops. The Super Conductor is no different. This beer pours a hazy copper with foamy white head that is leaving some lacing. The smell has a lot of bittering hop presence with a malty back drop. The taste has a bitter start...then the sweet malt temps to balance the beer followed by a bitter finish. I would classify this beer as more a big English style IPA than American. The mouthfeel is full body with good carbonation. Overall it is decent and I am glad to have the chance to try it.
