I'm long overdue in the writing of this beerfly...
Once upon a time in Rockland & Bergen counties, there were great beerbars called Company B's. 5 Dozen plus micros ONLY on tap, and a great bottled list to boot, and no swill. It was great when someone came in and asked for a Bud. "We don't have that". Okay, then can I get a Coors light? "We don't have that either". Well, can I get the closest thing you've got to it? They'd usually end up with a New England Light Lager.
Let's skip to the not so distant after that and they started selling macro swill in bottles. The place was suddenly packed with AB drinkers. And then the tap list started dwindling and the number of macros started climbing and taking up good tap space. And it was all downhill from there.
And now the present....
24 taps and about 2/3 of them are not worthy talking about. They've got 3 Brooklyn Brewery beers, 3 Flying Fish beers, the Lion Stout, a Saranac, and a Sam Adams seasonal. The rest are swill. A handful of bottles, most of which are junk, malternatives, ciders and the saving grace for the bottled selection are a few Sam Smith's.
The menu is standard bar food; burgers, wraps and some decent dinner entrees and the food is good, no complaints there. This is a big spacious bar with an unusual sunken seating area in front of the big big big screen tv, great for the games. They've also got a bunch of tv's riddled about the place, perfect for the pretty big Sunday Nascar crowd they've got there. They've got darts and there's a back room with a few pool tables, and an area for bands to set up. It's a very comfortable bar with good service and food but the beer selection is pitiful.
A shell of it's former great beer bar self.

A decent place to get a decent burger and a good microbrew. Used to be better in the old days, but it's still a couple of notches above your average macro bar. Pretty good atmosphere, service could be better, a good list of beers and average food. Basically, a pretty decent place but nothing to write home about.

I stayed in the attached motel on a stormy night in January and was truly excited that something listed as a beer bar in a beer publication would be in the building.
Felt a little garish inside with mirrors and silver and rampant TV's and cheesy lighting. Well, there were a significant number of quality micros mixed in with the rice pilseners. That's pretty good for any bar attached to a chain motel and my spirits were lifted after a long drive.
The place was really quiet for a Friday. Just the same it was tough to get any interest from the servers. One talked on her cel phone trying to get a ride for 10 minutes as my glass sat empty. There were yards available with an explanation on the beer menu (need to look at the beer menu? that's another 5 minutes before someone comes back) of how one must provide collateral to have one. So I ordered one, and was told "oh, we don't do those anymore." Well, what's this on your menu? and what are those really tall yard glasses lined up over there... hey, where are you going? Guess I'll wait another 10 minutes.
In essence, I'm never going back again.
