On tap at Hop Grenade in Concord, California.

Pours a nice clear orange with yellow/gold tones and a nice firm white head.

Smell is big, bold and assertive yeasty and spicy, white and black pepper undertones and a richness all its own. Big bold body with nice balance and carbonation.

Flavors a dry, crisp big and full bitter, with a long, clean and appealing bitter finish.

On-tap at Mikkeller Bar, San Francisco, CA

A: The beer is clear yellow in color and has no visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high bright white head that died down a bit, leaving a short head covering the surface. This died down, leaving specks of bubbles on the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of spicy hops are present in the nose.
T: The taste has flavors of grassy hops along with hints of pilsener malts and a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This is a nice and hoppy pilsener. It's hop-forward, with lots of aromas and flavors of hops in the smell and taste.

Quite attractive beer in the narrow "stange" glass. It's a golden color with a modest head. Pleasantly spritzy on the tongue. Tangy flavor with some graininess and spicy hops. More than a little bitter with a resiny hoppy taste. Very light body. There is a slight bit of malty sweetness but a dry finish. A creditable version of the classic Pilsener style, and the 14 oz glass didn't seem nearly big enough.

Served at the brewery and restaurant off Judah St. Brewer says this has 25 IBUs but it seemed more bitter than that.

I’ve come around to appreciate a well-constructed pilsner. This one has a nice biscuity backing with a crisp hoppy kick. Nothing outstanding, but all around decent.
