The Palate's Lure is the only place in Ayutthaya, as of early March, 2010, to find any beer other than adjunct lagers. I didn't make notes, but I recall a menu with a couple of dozen, or a bit more craft offerings. These were mostly German and Belgian, but also a few Australian brews, such as Cooper's. At the time of my visit, not everything on the menu was available. The owner stated that his (chinese) supplier in Bangkok hadn't quite recovered from Chinese New Year and gotten back to work yet. But still there were genuine German weisse beers, a weizenbock and some Belgian ales available, as well as the Cooper's offering from down under. There were a few beers on tap, but I don't recall which, other than the Japanese lager Asahi, which I found less offensive than the Thai beers. The service was excellent, with attention to details such as serving temperature and proper glassware.

I will admit that I have scored this little sanctuary higher than I would an identical bar in a place with more options. But there truly were no other options for craft beer in this city, not even at the big foreign, corporate supermarkets. So I scored the selection as above average due to the context, and the effort that the owner must make to procure craft beer. If you want something other than the standard Thai lagers in Ayyutthaya, the Palate's Lure is the place to go.
