Fantastic local brew and fantastic brew all together. Deep dark color with hints of dark fruit. Sticky but in a good way. Doesn't get better as it warms. Quite bitter. Sort of boozy but not overwhelming. Very complex. Very tough to get in a bomber so on tap was my only option. I can't imagine it tasting this good out of a bottle.

Found this little gem on draft at the Tipping Point in Montgomery, AL. Not very familiar with this Hunstville brewery, Straight to Ale, but was pleasantly surprised with this Ale.
Great nose off this beer, citrus hops, pineapple, papaya, mango. It had a nose and hop profile that reminded me of Hopslam.
Taste did not disappoint. Good balance, decent malt backbone, maybe a little thin on the mouthfeel. Didn't taste the 9.00% ABV on this, but after my second pint I definitely knew it was there.
Good find, will look for this beer again in the future. Will have to try their single IPA as well.

Poured from 22 oz bomber into snifter glass.
A: Pours a deep honey brown with 2 finger fluffy white head. Some nice retention, but it settled to a small ring around the edge with some minimal spotty lacing.
S: Big punch of citrus. Grapefruit and mango dominate the nose. Biscuit and honey mixed with a piney punch at the end.
T: Complex mix of hop bitterness, and some tropical fruit sweetness. Again, I'm getting a fair amount of grapefruit and mango. The faint sweetness reminds me of honey.
M: Lots of hop resin gives this a bit of an oily texture. It finishes quite dry and bitter.
O: Interesting Imperial IPA. Lots of hops to enjoy and balanced fairly well with just a touch of sweetness. Not something I want for everyday, but this is a nice occasional brew which works well with its seasonality.

22oz bottle from Sprayberry Bottle Shop (Marietta, GA). 11.99. No bottling date but I assume fairly fresh because it just hit shelves in the past week. Served in a Barrel and Barley teku.
Pours a brilliant, clear, golden amber with a three finger pillow of off-white froth. The head lingers almost indefinitely and leaves huge cakes of lace
Lots of sugary malt on the nose along with a great deal of piney, earthy hops. Floral, herbal, mild citrus rind and pepper follow.
The flavor is big, bold, bright and bitter with piney, resinous hops. Pine, citrus zest, floral, hebal, earthy, black pepper, vague mint, dankish garlic/onion, a little cracker and a considerable bite of booze. Far from balanced, with only a hint if the malt I caught in the aroma yet quite tasty.
Sticky, medium full feel with plenty (but not too much) feisty carbonation. Brutally bitter and long lasting aftertaste of piney and dank hops.
Gorillanaut is a quite good IPA for those that want a terrifically bitter hop assualt. I enjoyed it but tend to prefer more tropical, fruity hops and malty sweetness. Worth a try but most likely not a repeat purchase for me.

On tap in Decatur Alabama at the Brick. I was not impressed witth the appearance at all. It was cloudier than a wheat beer with chunky opaque orange beer with floating, chewy debris swirling around. A nice white cap though and thick creamy lace. The smell was very nice with orange, grapefruit, pine and spicy hops dominating a biscuit and caramel backbone. The taste was not as intense as the aroma and a bit too pungent on the grapefruit profile, but had nice orange zest, and pine notes throughout and was balanced very well with the malt. The mouthfeel was a bit chewy, thick and creamy for the style. Overall, not my favorite IPA by far.

Pours a golden light amber with ample off white head - nice retention and lacing.
Smells of floral, pungent bitter citrus and resinous earthy pine.
Taste starts with bitter citrus giving way to some sweet orange. A thick biscuity malt comes through for a brief moment before it is dominated by resinous pine. A decent II IPA, but a little too much conflict in the flavors. Needs some harmony and a little less pungency to be great.
