This is a hidden gem in the area for good beer. I caught wind of this quote end qoute "dive bar" from a friend who's into good beer named Anthony Henderson...on that visit he left Vince's Golf Land out on the Old Steubenville Pike and started looking for a place for a beer. He stumbled upon an old Roadhouse on the left on his way toward 22/30. When he stopped in looking for a Bud/Rolling Rock/or Yuengling he found himself a cooler stocked with good beer. Including the likes of Weyerbacher Blithering Idiot, Franziskaner hefeweizen, Anderson Valley, Lindeman's,and many more brand names. After a bit of investigation I met the barmaid/owner Mary Beavers who gave me the red carpet tour of the Farm. They stock 25-50 examples of fine craft brews at any given time based off of her tastes or one of loyal regulars recommendations. I spoke with Mary about beer and she's burning with passion, mind you this woman is in her 60s she speaks about craft/micro brews like she's in her 20s to 30s. I got to talking with Mary and she told me about her time in Munich studying abroad when she would sneak into the basement of the Hofbrauhaus after convincing her elders at the time that her and her friends were going to the church yard. We have system of reviewing good beer when you talk to Mary she's much more likely to describe her experience or opinion whether or not she tried a "quality" beer during her tastings. Thus far I've become close enough to Mary and her husband Freddy and two Chinese pugs, Bruno and Dolly to become comfortable enough to visit their bar and talk about our beer drinking culture openly. So, for concert goers and music lovers alike please pay this fine establishment a visit come this summer or any season when you're trying to drink "quality" beer amongst like company. Located less than a mile from Pittsburgh's biggest outdoor concert venue Star Lake/Post Gazette Pavilion, please stop by and enjoy your time in this area.

This is my favorite bar to stop by. The owners are very nice and personable. Mary likes it when someone who knows beer stops in. They have a pretty broad selection of import beers, which is the closest place to me that serves a decent amount of imports. They also have a stage and dance floor and have live bands play on occations. The bar dogs are awesome as well. Bruno (he's a pug) sits on a bar stool and drinks budweiser out of a bowl. I've got a few photos. Nice, friendly atmosphere, decent crowd on the weekends, though I prefer to stop in on a week night for a few beers and a game of pool and some music on the juke box. It kind of looks like and old-style southern house on the outside, but as soon as you step foot inside, it is clean and nice. They also have a game with a metal ring hanging from a string and you toss it to hook it on C-hooks on a wall. Fun game. The Finster's favorite bar.

WOW... is it ever a hidden gem . A friend of mine suggested we go there for a beer as he noted that one of the owners (Mary and Freddy) was very beer savvy and the selection was right up my ally. Stopped in after working 2nd shift and had couple of great beers at great price, and yes she does know her stuff. Makes me wish I was around for what she called a social. Like a beer club everyone brought something exotic and all had a good time . Got to the place around 11:30 and before I knew it, it was 2 AM and feeling sad that I had to leave so soon. That means a second trip is in order ... hopefully soon. The 2 pugs were sleeping I guess past thier bedtime but I did get to meet Ray (Named after Ray Charles as he is sadly blind) a lovable pooch who loves chips a good bit. If your in the area and thirsty for great beer and coversation... Stop by all means a great time is in store for you!
