I’m here to rate mostly the shipping of Half Time Beverage. On Dec 4 2019 my daughter ordered me beer for Xmas. Come January 15 it still hadn’t arrived. She called, they “sent another shipment”. By the end of February there was still no beer. We got a refund. I gave them one more shot. Maybe it was a holiday thing? I ordered $150 worth of beer in August 2020. By the end of November there was still no beer shipment. They had no problem charging my card but can’t seem to get the beer shipped at all. What a shame because there’s some amazing beers I’d like to try. Order shipping at your own risk.

Recently went to go pick up in person the box for the Beeradvocate Online IPA Fest. After the shipping fiasco (not their fault) that was the Online Extreme Beerfest, I was lucky to get my package then so I opted for the pickup since it's only an hour and a half drive or so and the gas costs probably are a wash with the shipping returned, which they did almost immediately after pickup. The whole team did an excellent job with the communication and even switching the pickup from their Mamaroneck store to Poughkeepsie at a time that was convenient for me.
I had been here back in 2013 and it was good but nowhere near what this place is now. It's a legit craft beer destination. The 6 pack rings to make your own is a great way to try a a lot of things that would normally be pretty expensive as their own 4 or 6 pack. Ridiculous selection as far as I'm concerned over the border in CT. Staff was nice, patient, and knowledgeable about their selection. Cannot wait to go back!

I am replacing my previous review which was less than favorable to Half Time with a much improved view of the company due to additional experience with them. My original order did not go well due to missing beers, lack of a refund, and a failure to respond to my initial emails to the company. HOWEVER, after posting a review someone at Half Time saw it and was able to identify me which caused one of the owners to reach out directly to me. He not only got me my refund but a few excellent beers in addition to make up for their missteps.
The owner went to great lengths to identify where his company dropped the ball and didn’t point fingers but instead took responsibility and made an effort, beyond what was required to fix the problem. I’m aware that things happen and balls get dropped by all of us on occasion. I originally mistook Half Time for a company that didn’t care and that was my mistake. They took ownership of the problem and rectified it. When something goes wrong it says a lot about a company in how they handle that situation and it’s clear to me, that Half Time as a family owned company, stands behind their pledge of service and wants to do well by their customers. They’ve earned my future business despite having a less favorable initial experience and I hope others give them the benefit of the doubt and a second chance as well if things don’t go smoothly for some reason.

Internet buyers beware of Half Time Beverage.

My in-stock Christmas order was charged to my credit card and confirmed when placed on November 30. After that, silence. Following up, I made numerous phone calls and emails looking for shipping information. Most emails went unanswered. Calls to people always in meetings or away from their desks went unreturned. As I grew more forceful, they responded with reassuring, hopeful fabrications, requiring continued panicked calls and emails. When the order finally arrived via overnight shipping on December 24, it was short three of the beers I ordered.

In keeping with Halftime’s stellar service, there was no acknowledgement of the shorted items, no automatic refund, and no response or action on my requests for refund sent on December 24 and January 17.

Half Time Beverage was a miserable company to deal with this Christmas season, and I still don’t have my refund. Life is short, and there are plenty of other craft beer retailers online. Buy elsewhere.

Has a huge selection... thats it. The prices at this place are offensive. Expect to pay around 20% more for most beers there. And they nearly always allocate the stuff from the highly rated breweries so if you want to try it you are forced to pay there single prices which are horrible. There growler fills are also disgustingly overpriced. Check out there beermenus. 64 oz growler of xocoveza for $33. Everywhere else sells a six pack of it for $17. That's double the price for less beer. Don't support this store. A store this size should be able to have competitive prices. They are just greedy.

Deleted my 2009 review to reflect what this store is like now-

UPDATE: I absolutely despise what the greedy... person... Alan Daniels has done to Half Time. Service is almost non existent, you can get lower prices on beer shopping in Grand Central Station, old bottles (well dusted I must admit) are the rule of the day on the shelf, and it is a horrible shopping experience. I actually curse the place out loud when I drive past and there will NEVER be a day I set foot in the store again.

I want it to be known that I love this store. The selection is amazing. Today sucked though. Ive always come in here for beer. Today I went to get KBS, one four pack limit per customer. Now I know these guys aren't getting gouged by their distributors, but they really enjoy sticking it to their customers when they charge$36.00 for a 4 pack of KBS. Thanks guys, way to keep it honest.

Being about 20 minutes from Poughkeepsie, this shop serves as the ares local go to place, As far as the major complaint of being to pricey, I guess they are at the top of the suggested retail price. But when you are looking for good beer they will have it. Basically, If it’s available in New York they get it. I have tried many beers that I would never have been able to try if I didn’t shop here.

Can't say it has much of a "vibe" since it is just a store, but great beer selection. If there is anyplace else within an hour drive that can compare, I haven't found it yet. Pretty much the only place I bother buying at during the couple times a year I'm in the area. Got to give it a bit of a knock, however, for having prices higher than alternate locations.

Awesome beer selection. Spent an hour in the store and was able to get most of the beers I wanted to try. They fill growlers and even have cigars. Wish this place was closer to CT.

I re-reviewed this based on the overhaul of the place that was done in July of 2015 (and seems to be continuing).
Much improved growler section (same number of taps but better selection and variety: Alpine, Other Half, more appropriate seasonals).
The new black shelving makes their beer selection look smaller but they actually seem to have more beer and more varieties from brewers (ex. where they previously had 4-5 Ballast Point's now they have a wider array from them).
They mixed up the end caps to highlight some better breweries (previously it was Ommegang, Rogue, DFH, Bklyn) so appearance wise it seems more up to date.
A nice and long overdue touch was to add prices to the beer on the shelves behind the register so one doesn't have to ask anymore. A simple but smart touch.
Prices remain as just "OK". They know their beer so they will price accordingly for anything that has a buzz. Green Flash, Ballast Point, Maine etc. are expensive everywhere but this place seems to push it even a bit higher than other locals.
They seem to be modernizing the place a bit and making better use of he space. Always has a been a stellar store just needed some "freshening up".

And to date the website is useless (and they pretty much tell you so on their main page as it's being re-worked). Tap list is accurate but they don't update their new arrivals often.

NH resident, in the area for work....Wow! Quite the selection, bought a case worth of singles that I can't get or find in NH or Mass for that matter.

I will be coming back here to stock my beer fridge on return trips for work.

Not used to seeing the 5 cent bottle deposit as a separate item on the receipt.

Great beer store that I'm lucky to live near. Many times the difficult thing is picking out what to actually buy as hard not to find more that I want then I can actually drink. They seem to carry almost everything distributed in NY and the best part is you can purchase everything by the bottle so no need to buy multiples to try a new beer. Have enjoyed some fresh growler fills as well. Prices in reason for NY. They seem to employee people who know and like beer if you have questions; I know many of them are quite knowledgeable and active in local beer community.

A huge beer store in Poughkeepsie, widely renowned. My expectations for this place were absurdly high due to other BA's reviews, and those expectations weren't quite met, but this is still a must stop due to the wide selection and helpful staff. Multiple aisles of beer separated by country, and a solid growler selection. The "best stuff" is behind the counter, visible. Workers were very knowledgeable about the selection and helped me determine if it was worth dropping $20 on BA Boris (they said it would be, and happily, it was). Definitely recommended.
