This is pretty much as good as it gets in my opinion. I visit Half Time at least 3 times a year - every time I drive from NY to Boston to one of BA's fests I go out of my way to stop here (and that's at least an extra hour of driving).

It seems this place has every beer distributed in NY state. They have a very strong US selection, excellent Belgian selection and decent choice of other import beers. I am looking at my latest receipt. It's small, only $75. I think this may be the first time it's under $100. This time I walked out with a couple of Sprecher beers, a couple of Southampton bottles, a few Heavyweights, Cantillon Gueuze, Unibroue Quelque Chose, and Middle Ages 11th Anniversary.

In addition to bottles, they have about 10 taps with something interesting on. My best pick was a growler of St. Bernardus Abt 12.

Half Time is big in terms of square footage, and that helps tremendously in having relaxed atmosphere to browse. No crowded aisles here. There are coolers along two walls with chilled beer.

You can break up six packs.

They also have a good selection of non-alcoholic drinks (root beers, sodas, etc.). They sell snacks, and have a fair selection of glasses. They also build gift baskets which usually include a good selection of quality beer with a glass.

The staff is always friendly. My problem is always limiting the number of bottles I want to buy, so I rarely ask any questions. However, I am always offered help and when it's time to fill up a growler, I am always assisted promptly.

Half Time is really a must see beer store!!!

Can't say it has much of a "vibe" since it is just a store, but great beer selection. If there is anyplace else within an hour drive that can compare, I haven't found it yet. Pretty much the only place I bother buying at during the couple times a year I'm in the area.

Awesome beer selection. Spent an hour in the store and was able to get most of the beers I wanted to try. They fill growlers and even have cigars. Wish this place was closer to CT.

I re-reviewed this based on the overhaul of the place that was done in July of 2015 (and seems to be continuing).
Much improved growler section (same number of taps but better selection and variety: Alpine, Other Half, more appropriate seasonals).
The new black shelving makes their beer selection look smaller but they actually seem to have more beer and more varieties from brewers (ex. where they previously had 4-5 Ballast Point's now they have a wider array from them).
They mixed up the end caps to highlight some better breweries (previously it was Ommegang, Rogue, DFH, Bklyn) so appearance wise it seems more up to date.
A nice and long overdue touch was to add prices to the beer on the shelves behind the register so one doesn't have to ask anymore. A simple but smart touch.
Prices remain as just "OK". They know their beer so they will price accordingly for anything that has a buzz. Green Flash, Ballast Point, Maine etc. are expensive everywhere but this place seems to push it even a bit higher than other locals.
They seem to be modernizing the place a bit and making better use of he space. Always has a been a stellar store just needed some "freshening up".

And to date the website is useless (and they pretty much tell you so on their main page as it's being re-worked). Tap list is accurate but they don't update their new arrivals often.

NH resident, in the area for work....Wow! Quite the selection, bought a case worth of singles that I can't get or find in NH or Mass for that matter.

I will be coming back here to stock my beer fridge on return trips for work.

Not used to seeing the 5 cent bottle deposit as a separate item on the receipt.

Great beer store that I'm lucky to live near. Many times the difficult thing is picking out what to actually buy as hard not to find more that I want then I can actually drink. They seem to carry almost everything distributed in NY and the best part is you can purchase everything by the bottle so no need to buy multiples to try a new beer. Have enjoyed some fresh growler fills as well. Prices in reason for NY. They seem to employee people who know and like beer if you have questions; I know many of them are quite knowledgeable and active in local beer community.
