I attend a lot of work functions at Brochach and know the bar well. It's not unlike the 10,000 other Irish pubs in America, though perhaps done a little better with a wonderful whiskey list. In fact the single best draw to Brochach is its Mon-Thurs, 3-6 Happy hour, which offers half priced Scotches and Irish Whiskeys off a truly impressive list and pints of Guinness with a shot of Bushmills for $6ish. Happy Hour Aps are also a steal. Otherwise Brochach is a bit steep. Expect to pay $5-$6 a pint for European macros.
Tap selection is Stella, all the Irish Macros, Spotted Cow, and a beer or two from Capital. Bottle selection is mostly macros with a couple good Belgians and a few well picked crafts.
Service is very hit and miss. Food is above average for an Irish Pub. The Sheppard's Pie makes for a hearty winter lunch and I've always enjoyed their Roasted Chicken "Brochach". The loaded lounge fries on their late night menu are one of my favorite drunk snacks in town.
Brochach is certainly not a beer destination and doesn't really offer much unless you're really into chainlike Irish pubs and spending too much on beer. As I said, however, if whiskey is your drink then their happy hour is one of the best around.
