I've been to Dremo's a couple of times now and it has always been a good time.

The atmosphere is nice and relaxed. In fact the place itself is almost dive-y, but in a good way. This is a perfect place to get a couple of pitchers of good beer and play some games (which include shuffleboard, pool and darts). There are even beer pong tables if one so desires.

The selection includes: Smutty Nose, Brooklyn, Old Dominion, Dr. Dremo's brews, Stone, Rogue, etc. Last night I enjoyed some Brooklyn Chocolate Stout, Delirium Tremens, and Troegenator.

The bartender was friendly and helpful with some of my non-beer drinker friends who wanted to be adventurous.

Happy hour was not packed at all. On the weekends when I have gone it has been busy, but not rediculously so.

The food while not bad was nothing to write home about.

I had the opportunity to visit Dr. Dremos before the establishment closed on 1/23 w/ gottajiboo2, his brother and a friend of theirs Matt. When we arrived we were greeted by a Totem pole and some fencing, inside the door there are small fermenters w/ English brewery stickers and the ramp lead us up to the bar past the fishtank w/ a Rogue santa's private reserve bottle swimming w/ goldfish.

We all took the sights in: Pool tables, keg-based tables and graffiti adorned sheet metal dividers w/ comfy couches and a long bar w/ a trough in front of approximately 36 tap handles.

The house ales were very well made and I could not stop checking out the place w/ more fermenters w/ colored lights inside behind the bar and classic and modern breweriana everywhere.
We shared some nachos and ales before the majority of the happy hour crowd shuffled in. The service was speedy and the food was tasty as far as bar food goes.

I really enjoyed my visit and hope to visit the new Dr. Dremos when it opens, I felt right at home and the value fit the situation. I only wish I could attend the auction they are holding for some of the pieces placed around the bar.

I credit Dremo's with bestowing upon me my beer geek status. Before Dremo's I didn't know there WAS such a thing as a "beer bar". "A bar that doesn't sell liquor? WHAT!?" Now, I don't even really care for liquor but occasionally.

I say this just so that people might realize that my review is a tad biased. That being said, it is a wonderful place. The selection is great, the service is friendly (this also may partially be because I am a regular and tip well), the staff is knowlegeable, and I love the atmosphere.

It does get a bit crowded on the weekends, and there are a good number of BMC drinkers, but I forgive them that because they chose to patronize such a great bar.

As other people have said, it is closing. At the time of this writing you have five more nights to get your ass in gear and check it out.

I can say without a doubt, I will follow them where ever they go if they manage to find a new location. If not, que sera sera.

This is a landmark that started in December 92 or January 93, can't remember, maybe off by a year. Anyway it started as Bardo Rodeo, where the wait staff all wore shirts that said, "I will recognize whatever appears as my projection and know it to be a vision of the Bardo". Very funky painting on the wall, which are actually the Bardo - the purgatory between life and death, and the 49 (?) stages that are painted on the walls. Then the owner decided to move the brewery off site, and try to distribute, but this didn't pan out. The place had enormous sq ft of room, probably 8000 sq ft or more, plus the outside patio. Then he scaled down and didn't rent the downstairs area. Oh, the downstairs had a cardboard cut out of Mr Goodwrench, for those of you old enough to remember (this place used to be a car dealership), and play sandboxes for kids, for those of you young enough.

Enough said, the place is closing, the last night is January 26. Be there!

dr. dremo's will soon be gone. these are the last days of an establishment that represents (or resembles) a lost ideal of a place that once had promise of a being a funky and unique getaway for those who wanted freedom from downtown washington with it's through the roof prices and over crowded streets lined with yuppies, politicians and neveau riche. arlington is now under seige by people who are trying to destroy everything that attracted them to the town in the first place. i guess that happens anywhere with an ounce of cool. that being said, dremo's is a faux dive with a very industrial/urban feel. food is okay... not bad for bar fare. service is never bad. the owner is always there and always says hello. always something great to drink. i'll miss you dremo. highly recommend going before they close the doors for good in the end of january.

Dr. Dremo's is probably my favorite VA bar, though it's easy to see how it wouldn't appeal to everyone as it has a very industrial, delapidated feel. For some this is a turn off, but I think it gives the place some character.

For me the place has two great selling points. First is the selection. Outside of Brickskeller it can't be beat. Over thirty beers, almost all of them are micros. Just off the top of my head they had Brooklyn, DFH, Lagunitas, Victory, Stone, Delerium Tremens, Smuttynose. You get the point. I don't know if they rotate the taps seasonally, but when I spent a lot of time there over the summer the availability of IPAs was well suited.

The second thing I like about Dremo's is the outside patio, however patio isn't the right word to describe it because it is so large. Tons of seating, dart boards and a huge bar. In the warmer months this is where all of the action is.

My biggest problem with the place are the lack of bathrooms. There is one unisex bathroom on the patio area, and one single person bathroom for each sex inside. Simply not enough for all the patrons, and you'll be spending a lot of time in line. The other thing that I don't like, and it's outside of Dremo's control, is that you have to sacrifice glassware for plastic when you are on the patio.

First of all, this place is on its last legs - it's over and done forever in a few months, so just get here while you can. That said, it is a fairly large bar with many taps and good selection. Maybe they don't always rotate the selection often, but the neighborhood is highly transient and therefore fickle. The beer geek (not beer BRAT) and average Joe will both find something satisfactory to drink here. The atmosphere is college dive and industrial (used to be an Oldsmobile dealership...) so everyone is loose and loud and doing their own thing. There are different seating arrangements for different needs - big groups, foursomes, sixes, and couples. a couple video games, some pool tables. Loud music. The crowd seems to be in their twenties and early/mid 30's. This is a lousy place to bring a first date if you are actually mature and discerning. This is more of a loose watering hole. Food? good, not great - bar food...you get it. Service is hit or miss, but rarely-to-never awful. At the time of this review, for what it's worth, you should just come and check it out, because an era is ending here, and the whole place is getting bulldozed for new condos/office/retail space, and this is an old Arlington landmark from decades past. Few buildings left like this.

This place rocks! I heard about it from a few friends and after reading about it in one of Greg Kitsock's articles, I had to check it out. First off, their beer selection on tap is amazine Dogfish, Magic Hat, Delerium Tremens, Lagunita, ...).

Up stairs: Pool tables, foosball, darts... a nice big bar, pleanty of tables and some secluded ones...

Downstairs/outside: This is where the party is at, pool tables, beer pong, darts, big bar with an awesome bartender who knows her beer. tons of 'deck' tables and chairs. and every now and then they dump sand on the floor to give it that beach bar feel.

best thing about the joint? - They only serve beer.

This place is amazing. From Thursday night through Sunday, the outside bar is open throughout the Summer. The bartenders there are all really cool. There are literaly 25+ beers to choose from...I had the Dr Dremo's Redneck Ale the other night...a beer I noticed that is not even listed here on Beeradvocate.com The only dislikes are that there is only one outside bathroom and the line tends to get a little long and the parking situation can be difficult at times. Other then that, the place is one of the best dives in Arlington.

One thing I'll say, it nice that this location stuck with beer. It used to house a brew pub/movie beer hall back in the day whose beers ranged from ok to terrible. I think I saw "Fast Times" back in 1999. Anyway, the atmosphere is still the same; young with a mixture of yuppies, former frat boys and people trying to fit into the alternative click. Great for people watching to say the least. It has also kept its dingy dirty look.

They do have a nice tap list with Delerium displayed prominantly along with the pink elephants. The thing about this place is that you don't ever plan your night around going here, you just sort of end up there impromtu like. And that really is the draw of the place.

I am glad it's still around as all the other dives in the Clarendon/Court House area have either been turned into something upscale or converted into million dollar condos. There's something to be said about diversity.
