O'Connor's best beer of the three they offer so far. Support your local brewery, Tidewater/Hampton Roads!
Appearance: Reddish copper with a thin white head
Smell: Mostly malt with some earth and a bit of apple
Taste: Toasted malty goodness and almost stout-like with its earthy undertones
Mouthfeel: Smooth with a lingering finish of smokiness
Drinkability: A very drinkable stout/ale hybrid and worthy of try at your local watering hole (available at Cogan's and Jack Quinn's)

a: served in a shaker pint glass, medium amber in color, light layer of carbonation and some spotty lacing
s: sweet caramel malt, quite biscuity, mild grassy/herbal hop aromas
m: carbonation light-moderate, body the same with a slight sugary slickness
t: opens with sweet caramel, some flavors of sugary light fruits, crackery/biscuit malt, hops mild with a dry grassy flavor
o: certainly pretty plain but not a bad option, the biscuity malt is nice and the beer drinks well as a whole

A nice session beer or one to have with food. This one was a brew of the month selection at the Green Parrot in Va Beach VA. Good hazy reddish/amber color. Medium size white head, fades fast, minimal lacing.
Smell is mild - sweet caramel and bready malts. Taste features sweet malt with a little bitterness at the end.Overall nice blend of flavors and a great partner with seafood.
Mouthfeel is average, a little rich and a little crispness. Drinkability is good, well balanced - not too sweet and low enough abvto enjoy with food.
Nioe to see a local brewery featured in a Tidewater VA establishment. A pretty good beer!!!

A: Reddish-copper, with a hint of haze. Head was 1-finger of off-white foam that faded quickly, leaving just a hint of lacing.
S: Bready malt, with just a hint of citrus in the background. No complicated aromas here.
T: Sweetness surprisingly strong up front, yielding quickly to a tart, citrus flavor. Hops makes a strong and lasting appearance in the finish, with a bitterness like grapefruit rind. There's a faint fatty acid taste in the finish as well, detracting from the experience somewhat.
M: Nicely carbonated, with a slightly dry finish.
O: Just so-so. Not what I was expecting from a red ale, especially the bitterness (I can't believe it's only 35 IBUs, as the bottle lists). I'll pass in the future.

I have had many of the O'connor products here in the Hampton Roads area, especially on draft at local bars. A strong but not bad malt flavor with little hoppiness. Red Nun is almost as easy to drink as their Green Can (personal favorite). The Red Nun seemed a bit flat but overall not a bad beer and could easily finish the 6-pack due the 5.5% ABV. Wish the price was closer to the adjunct American brewers.
